    Scarpa Hurricane 2008

    Any news on these babies?

Seems like THE first boot that will work with BOTH AT and ALPINE BINDINGS without changing soles?

I'm pretty sure the current Scarpa Tornado and Tornado Pro have the soles that work for both AT and alpine bindings. The Hurricane looketh nice though.

It looks like it. It's called the Vibram Ride sole.

Still, the buckle config of the Hurricane (specially the 2nd and 4th buckle) makes more sense than that of Scarpa's previous 4-buckle models (Tornado, Spirit 4 and Denali).

Yep, my tornado pro claims this although I have no intention of using them in alpine binders.

I've heard they are still changing the design and intend for them to be at least 100 on the alpine flex scale, which is definitely stiffer than my tornado pro. Don't know anything else about them except they are LIGHT AS FUCK.

Other than any old DIN sole alpine boot of course...

I am interested in something like this for work. Do we know if it has a walk mode?

I disagree, the buckle directly on top of the ankle works very well.

Of course. I meant with a vibram sole for walking.

It seems from the photo that indeed it does have a walking mode.

It does, but not as well as the traditional 4-buckle config in alpine boots and now the Hurricane, at least for me. FWIW, the position of the buckle directly on top of the ankle ain't different in a Tornado or a Laser.

unless you score on one of those super deals that happen...only in America!

my four year old denali xt's the blue ones function in at or alpine bindings and have the non-changeable rubber soles and the walk/ski flipper on the back of the boot. have been using them in my freerides and salomons for the past four seasons without a problem ever and were the driving force that enabled me to minimize my quiver down to two skis for everything.

That sounds like a bad thing. You should buy these boots... and more skis.

Nah! one pair of boots two pair of skis, one with freerides on my old ak launchers and one with salolmons on my exploders, with this minimalist package it is very easy to go anywhere and do anything at anytime, where powder is involved.
