Fairy Meadows TR/late hour invitation
Some pics from our trip to Fairy Meadows last year . . . 7 days, 6 ft of snow . . . mmmmm
. . .now due to a series of unfortunate events including one broken fibula, one almost-but-not-quite-yet-dead dog, one passport fuck-up and one whiplash MVA straight off of late night TV I am left with 2 open spots for the Fairy Meadows Hut from 3/17 to 3/24. (Yes, next Saturday) We are looking for 2 souls to join our scattered crew of 12 coming from Denver, Aspen, Jackson, Vermont, and California.
In case your unfamiliar here is the lowdown:
Rendezvous on Saturday morning in Golden in the heart of British Columbia – the epicenter of the world’s best snowcat/heli ski operations. Board a helicopter for a flight up to the Bill Putnam (aka Fairy Meadows) cabin in the Adamant Range, 70 kms from the nearest plowed road. Bring 3000 pounds of skis, scotch, boards, moose drool, whole pigs, advil, mohitos, grafix bongs (this is BC), food and contraband. Spend a week in heaven exploring the unknown: face shots, pillow lines, figure 8s, snow snakes, naked sauna lounging, neon powder suits, snowbirds, and barrel rolls.
The lodge is sports typical backcountry amenities including 3 sleeping porches, no running water or electricity, 2 large propane stoves/ovens, an outhouse and wood sauna.
The terrain has long been described as the best backcountry ski destination in the world with small tree shots around the lodge and endless glacier skiing above.
Annual snowfall is in the vicinity of 11 meters/year.
So if your like me and make most major financial decisions and all travel decisions at the very last minute with no planning, minimal regard for personal safety, no regard for work, maximal need for stoke and with the sole intention of getting the deepest, most virginly untouched snow in the whole goddamn world this could be you (and your friends) lucky day.
Cost for the trip is usually ~1000/person for the hut/heli/food/beer but given the hour and my bar tab I'll take 650/person.
PM me if your interested.

fairy meadows is one of the last places I would consider skiing! That place has nothing to offer!
There's a world out there full of color, dreams, and imagination. What are you waiting for?

sofa king,
I would go but you used the word "epicenter". I'm a geologist and I protest that folks are using that word where it doesn't apply. Why not just use the word CENTER???

Epicenter is the spot on the Earth's surface that marks the location of an earthquake that typically occurs at some depth - that's the hypocenter.

Oh yeah.. that trip looked phenomenal! Epic and central to the heart of BC skiing! I find no fault in the trip report! Way to strike the slope's dip! It made my aureoles erupt!
