Cool Holee Sh8*t!!! It was deep today at Alpental

    FKNA

Overnight 20" at the top of chair 2, 32 inches for the 2 day total. Temps hovered in the teens making for absolute EPIC blower in the ~5% range.

The crowds were suprisingly small after the initial delay in opening, and really thinned out in the afternoon. I waited ~5-10 minutes and the Elevator gate opened- pretty much untracked straight down the shaft $$$$$ + $.

Great day skiing with a cadre of mag's and non-mags in and out of non-stop powder Ova-da-head blower with BC-Flow, Greydon Clark, Squirrel99, Graupel, BenWa, I know I'm missing someone in here.

Also made some turns with Buster's brother in-law Bert, who I've known and skied with for 15+ years and just today learned the relation. Also with my brother the boarder Pete who at the end of the day said "Today was maybe the best snow of the year- it was good to be a skier today because everyone had a vapor trail and snow coming up over their head". Yup, good day to be a skier.

There are prolly a few pics from the day but only a few from me-I had a hard time stopping. But then the sun tried to come out (for PNW) as well.

    Looking up the Knoll1 gut-

some oh-shit-might-as-well-snap-a-few-pics of Graupel far left of Heavenly trees

The High T never opened, but really I have no complaints with about calling in sick for work today.

Move upside and let the man go through...

    Part Two

A photo essay from two runs today. It was even tough stopping to snap these sequences.

They said it was deep -
skier: BenWA - first time guest

    I said DEEP!

    First impressions are everything

Submarine Mojo trying to surface for air

    Dive, captain, Dive!

    It really was that deep

Craig takes a breath before gorging back in

    BenWA in the Breakover

    Work can wait til' later

Anyone up for Friday morning? I think I'm going to try and get back up there for at least 2-3 High T laps...

If it doesn't feel good the first time, double the speed and try again.

Am I permitted to add some photos from the Snoq Pass backcountry today?

You must have proper equipment for these conditions:

heh. I know- which is why it makes me laugh (okay, so Hop does more alpine than Greydon...)

oh, tomorrow. I think I'm going to be up there until 12pm-ish. I must get some more bc action. (though avy warning just issued for mid-day to late Friday so not sure if they'll be opening any gates???)

I'll call you in the AM if I get to break away for the Pass.

BC, we gotta make turns. Not sure why but we keep ending up on different schedules. tomorrow?

Today was great, best conditions I’ve ever had at Alpental.

Tele turns… if ya’ll ski a little slower, I’ll make more of them.

    Now post more photos bitches!

i'm not really sure if anything more needs to be said. it was a god damn good day at alpie. there were a lot of people to roll with and being a powder day it was the typical each for their own thing. graydon and i spent the morning with mofro and graupel then broke off on our own. kept trying to fall in sync with squirrel but it just never happened.

thanks to everybody for slowing it down from time to time to slut. it was the kinda snow where you don't want to stop, but i was pretty sure we'd want to have some photos to remember the day.

still working on the photog skills so bear with me as i get my game down.

graydon clark feels a pang of hunger

    oh gosh i'm peckish

you know what time it is

thankfully his appetite was whet, whet by POW!

mofro with the expected "why yes it was deep in shot six" photo

graydon follows suit but drops a knee — just cause he can

graupel with the shot six pack spray

oh what is this little feature in breakover trees? gosh i think i'll...

let the photog miss the air shot and then

    SLAY IT!
p.s. mofro doesn't have an ACL in one knee right now.
good thing he turns it down a little eh?

graupel getting all karate kid style

before seattle graydon lived in the yaya area

he knows how to gas break dip the landings

and even ghost ride his ski (that ski is actually on his foot cause he rode out of that hit all "doors open man" style)

not sure if those do the day justice, but i know they will help spark my memory this summer when i'm ski dreaming.
