nope definately a heel shim, I was worried that I'd manage to torque the toepiece out while skinning if I removed the toe shim, so I put a small shim under the heel and used longer screws, it accomplished the same result as removing the toe shim. Only problem is the heel might be a tiny bit sloppier but I never noticed it with AT boots. Now that I've switched back to an Alpine boot that has a wedge under the heel inside the boot, I really didn't need the shim anymore so I took it off.
Hope that helps
oh yeah and nice work with the list!For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

OK. weighted a few of my skis:
2003/04 Stöckli Stormrider DP
186 cm; 123/91/111 mm; radius on ski 26,3 m; 4428 grams
2005/06/07 Karhu Jak BC
186 cm; 124/90/113 mm; 3616 grams
Völkl Explosiv (Maroon Buddha)
190 cm; 120/95/112 mm; 4236 grams
Though all skis are drilled and somewhat used, so new skis will most likely be somewhat heavier (espicially the DP).

Armada JP vs. Julien from last season in 188 cm (I think, both for specs and year) 126/103/116 mm.
A pair weights 3723 grams, provided a pair of Salomon S912 TI weights 1980 grams.

Nice list, however I think there is a problem with the base area.
they look to all be around 20 cm^2...that cannot be right. Take a 100 mm waist, 180 cm ski. Completely ignoring the extra area on the tips and tails, that is 10 cm * 180 cm = 1800 cm^2. Did I miss something about the measurement?

The calcs are off by a factor of 100. But since its all relative - no big deal.

I've been thinking of posting this for a while, now I had some spare time so I printsc'd my excel spreadsheets of ski geometry.
All numbers are measurements of one ski.
I'll explain the norwegian if there is something you don't understand:
Modell= name of ski
år=year
så lgd=length
kr lgd=length without tips (running length)
bt lgd=back tip length
ft lgd=front tiplength
f ski=front ski length
b ski=back ski length
%=percent mounting point
tot%=percent with tips
bak=reference width back ski
midt=width mid ski
fram=reference width front ski
tupp=widest tip width
R=meters turning radius
bt ar=back tip area
kr ar=runing length area
ft ar=front tip area
tot ar=total area
bt=back tip height
ft=front tip height
sp=camber
bak=thickness thinnest at back
midt=thickness thickest middle
fram=thickness thinnest front
gr=weight (of one ski)
gr/cm²=weight/total base area
freeride skis:
bc jib skis:

that is one impressive spread sheet
how did you calculate your areas?
is your camber measurement of just one ski on a flat surface or base to base?

the camber is one ski towards a flat surface.
the area of the ski is the rectangle-the two circle segments+the area of the tips. i use different formulas for the tips, according to shape. as you can see in the spreadsheet I add and subtract a bit to compensate for unusual shapes.
