Where's the snow? The drought of '07 - SUCKS!

Now that spring has sprung in Tahoe (48 hot degrees in the squaw lot today) coupled with the fact that we don't have shit for a snow pack, no storms are in the forecast, I'm ready to load up the truck and hit the road.

    1) Are Whistler and AK the only spots that have good snow right now?

    2) I heard that it's raining up high in Washington, is this the case?

    3) Is it true that Jackson and Utah have not had a powder day in weeks and are not much better than Tahoe?

    4) I assume that Montana/Big Sky is also feeling the pain. Anyone in Montana?

    5) Does anyone know how interior BC is shaping up - Nelson, Red, Whitewater?

    6) How about the Canadian Rockies - Kicking Horse, Golden, Sunshine?

Time for a epic road trip!

    Red, Whitewater=money

I think Montana is going off right now also. Roommate is up there right now after being in Canada three weeks ago. Go get some.

I love how Colorado isn't on your list. That's awesome.

Montana is ok. I think Big Mtn is doing pretty good, though I have not been up there myself. I can say that Big Sky is filling in pretty nicely. No big storms in the forecast. Maybe this weekend, suppose to be much colder and unsettled starting on Friday.

I hit Jackson two weeks ago and it was skiing pretty well.

I can atest to Jackson not getting any substantial snowfall in the past 10+ days. Groomer central at the village. Hiking for turns is the only way to ski good snow and even that is not guaranteed.

From what I've heard about Tahoe, I'd say no. I had ok days Sunday and yesterday. Probably will have an ok day tomorrow as well. Last "decent" powder day was a couple weeks ago, tho.

That's b/c I'm not a big fan of low angle skiing and 8" storms. I'm looking for the chest deep on steep pitches.

Rich Texans are the only people who say "Colorado" and "ski" in the same sentence anymore.

Rockies are good! Banff-Golden-Revelstoke have deep snowpacks and it just keeps snowing.

Revy's reporting 13 feet at treeline with 2.5feet of fresh.

Our beer is reporting 4.5% to 7% as well and the Canadian winter keeps them cold...although the government keeps them expensive compared to American beers.

Ahem, any epic road trip must include a jaunt to the powderlaiden slopes of the East Coast...the skiing has been incredible across the Appalachia and only looks to get better. You want steep-try White Heat. You want deep-try Jay Peak.

Come east, you won't be dissapointed.

Is there any sort of money back guarantee with that offer? If so, I'd like mine back

Here is me enjoying our last Colorado 8" storm about ten days ago. It was roughly boot deep.

    I really need to move.

Yep anywhere in Western Canada is doing stellar. Whistler is well, Whistler. Mt. Washington again is developing a humoungous base. Nelson, Red, well I think they are doing all right. Kick, SSV and Louise are off to some of their best starts EVER.

Just hope you have your passports!!

Seriously. I think the Rockies have gone a week without a sizeable dump, you might want to head elsewhere...

Well if Tahoe STAYS dry, you will have a much bigger problem than skiing. It's called fire season..

Seconded, whistler and interior are going off, huge bases.

Surface snow is not perfect, but still some pow pockets, and a foot of fresh yesterday at Whistler. Forecasted freezing levels are scary-high. Have yet to have a bad day at w/b this season, with the "worst" days being well above average.

yeah, you wouldnt want to come here. We have had real poor snow and the low angle stuff at highlands is really boring me.

Actually Highlands, CB and Silverton are on the potential hit list. I'm just not a big fan of the bulk of the CO resorts.

I have two weeks to figure this one out then it's a month + on the road....so the more reports the better....
