what do you think of the new album? IMO, it's pretty solid for that style. still formulaic 80s metal but the riffs are crunchy.

Crazy skills for 17 year old. Tina S. is a classically educated musical prodigy who plays metal as a hobby. And she puts to shame most of the dudes who, you know, actually do it for a living. This has got to be humbling for a lot of "pros".

Amazing .... hands of a (musical) brain surgeon. Appreciated her getting more emotional towards the end.
    Ludwig would be proud.

Yeah, she wrinkles her nose a little when she's actually trying hard and then smirks a little when she's feeling good but that's about it. Not a head banger. But, if its emotion you want, check this out. Watch her keep up with one of Steve Vai's signature songs. This is basically a six minute guitar solo and, unlike Ludwig's cascading arpeggios, it has to be played with feeling. I think she was only 15 or 16 when she did "For the Love of God."

Metal show coming to Heart Six Ranch in Jackson. Details released soon.

Five Finger Death Punch has been in my rotation recently. Outside of the mountains, my second favorite aspect of living in Idaho is that you can find a bitchin rock station on the radio still.

Going to see 'em in a couple weeks in SF (w/Saxon & Black Star Riders (ex-Lizzy)) but have only listened through the new one once. Formulaic is a perfect description and exactly what I was thinking through the first half, I kinda wasn't really feeling it but it started sounding pretty good to me by the time it was done, gotta give it another listen or 2.

If you like this, I guess you must be a huge fan of the early High On Fire records. I am.

So what new bands is everyone into these days? I'm pretty settled in the niche I like but I'm always down to give some new groups a listen. Right now mostly listening to Elder, Be'lakor, Insomnium, In Mourning, and Persefone.

They would have packed arenas in the 80's.

not a big fan of ghost's music but i follow for the entertainment value.

but i am a big fan of ufomammut, monolord, and windhand mentioned above. exploring the others mentioned above. liking MWWB based on the name alone. portal is a little over the top but i like that sometimes in small doses.

oh and happy 4/20 - new Sleep is released today! seeing them may 16. stoked!

Agreed but the pop metal camp is entertaining.

MWWB us all sung in Welsh which I find kinda cool.

The new sleep album is on Spotify too. Looks like a few new songs and a few songs they already play in concert.
