    G4 vs. Tanker

I'm on a pair of the 185cm blue noodles now for predominantly east coast skiing, and am looking for something stiffer and a little shorter. I'm 5'8'' 135 lbs, expert skier, like skiing fast, and doing a fair amount of trees, woods type skiing. I am looking the the Kneissel Tanker in a 180, or the new G4, whatever its name is, in a 178. Which of these skis will be better suited to mainly east coast off piste skiing, and spending about 15 or 20 days a year skiing western resorts? And where could I buy the Tankers in North America, I have seen very few shops with them. Thanks.

G4 (724/AX4) . It's a little narrower than the Tanker, but still floats very well. If you do most of your skiing in the East, it'll be better than a Tanker out there. I only ski Whistler and I'm on a G4 most of the time (Explosive for really deep and BC) and love it.

    G4/AX4

    Buy the Volkls.

Dig the tanker's but question the durability, they tend to delam easily. See Dan the Man's result in the Mini-summit photo link.
Friend of mine has both tips riveted after one started delaming this year.

    The Ax-4 is pretty rugged.

    G4s

was on the AX4's all wknd for the mini and there is plenty of float for the pow..and they mash through anything left over.

    Wait there's more....

For East Coast, they're the preferred choice, narrower & much stiffer.

For EC I'd go with the G4/AX4.

At ~84 mm vs 93 mm waist I think the G4 would be better on harder snow.

I've got Tankers, 180 cm and I'm 165 and 5'9". I love them, they do handle harder snows ok but until they are truly on edge they are like boats ...

I have the G4 and its my DO EVERYTHING EC ski, get them now because they won't be out next year they really don't have a weakness except for skating rink type conditions in which case you probably won't be skiing the groomed trails anyway you'll be in the trees. Get the 178 and you won't be sorry its pretty much everything you'll ever need on the east coast.

Did I mention that you should pick up this ski before Volkl cans it next year[dumbest move by a ski company EVER]
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

When I got my T@nkers, I had to send a pic of my weiner to the Kneissl factory. (8 inch limp requirement)
They then gave me the okay on skiing them.

I can't believe they're getting rid of it. It's the best all around ski I've ever been on.
