Thread: The Hallucinogenics Thread

You'd think such a smart guy who got a degree in Chemistry wouldn't be such a hypocrit. I'm not a kid, not from the burbs, and I pay respect to Tupac, because he stands for the ultimate in freedom. (not unlike the feeling you get skiing)
My IQ was fine enough to get me through a chemistry degree and and most of a grad engineering degree before changing paths with just a cunt's hair below a 4.0.....and it's fine enough now to allow me the math to figure out if a dam is going to collapse on your family.
So in that respect, blow me you ignoramous.
But I'll agree there are plenty of acid casulties out there. I know a few. But that comes from a pretty huge excess. A "feeling" of enlightment is your assumption however, not mine. It's not my fault you don't know how to pay attention to what's going on with your own thought processes under the influence. You're showing your stupidity if you think everyone who's done psychedelics is either broken or clueless.
I'll be glad to discuss it but you need to be willing to as well.
These are just excuses to enable their actions. It's bullshit.
Now I could say "yes" I've tripped a million times, I have more experience than you'll ever know. Then you'll use my argument against me, so it's a no win situation.......I'm honest with myself. I know that the beer I'm drinking isn't making me smarter, in fact it makes me feel good because brain cells are dying and in return I experience euphoria. Now people I referenced in the above paragraph get a buzz, and think they're super smart or Superman. Being a realist is what I'm talking about.

I don't think anyone is claiming drugs make you smarter.
Hallucinogenics can change your perspective on a lot of shit, including yourself.
Question is, do you laugh and say dooooood, look at my hand, or can you be cohernet and conscious enough to have altered yet constructive thoughts?
Guess that depends on how much you ate...

Between laughs reading this thread, I came across this article... a National Geographic 'TR' of sorts.
from p3: "About one out of a hundred ceremonies is as intense as this one. We kicked some real demon butt tonight."

Last time I ate mushrooms I didn't even get a lousy t-shirt. I did however see the Mandalay Bay Casino is a whole new light, pioneer the first foray into Tornado Jumping and invent the Ford Explorer Freeway Derby.

Fair enough. Tupac is a good american.
Again....some truth here but your original statement referenced IQ.....which is pretty much a problem solving measure. But no one who cuts their IQ in half is getting through partial differential equations classes, especially not when they're engaging in studying for 8+ hours a day which is why I mentioned it. Those two periods in my life coincided with each other.
1. I don't smoke weed...never dug it. And for the most part, like you I despise stoners justifying slack...so again..watch the assumptions eh?
2. You keep repeating "smarter"......I myself don't use that term and to be honest don't know many who do. The only claim I'll ever make is that it can provide an avenue towards more self awareness....if you're paying attention and are after that sort of thing.
Now people I referenced in the above paragraph get a buzz, and think they're super smart or Superman. Being a realist is what I'm talking about.

That's different. I'm down with realism. I'll never claim greater knowledge over anything but myself from said usage. Bombing my neurons with lsd never helped me understand particle dynamics better but it certainly pointed out some personal neurosis which became very clear to me upon the rebuilding/sobering phase as they begin to reconstruct themselves.
But just to let you know, when faced with dipshits who think that the emotions or sensations of hyper reality while tripping are 100% applicable to sober life, I'll happily hold the fuckers down while you kick them in the nuts. Like I said before.....don't let your negative feelings towards the "victims" you've encountered carry over into your interactions with me. Your assumptions so far have been pretty inaccurate in that regard.
Allow me this stupid cliche response but you might have benefitted to being more open to what was going on when you tried these drugs. I'll never claim it as a lifestyle but they can provide an interesting footnote.......beyond just being fucked up a few times.
If it's not for you then it's not for you........but attacking any other approach displays some ignorance.Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp

I've smoked salvia divinorum twice, had one good acid trip when I was 16, and a minor shroom trip. The salvia is completely different... I've read that it acts differently on the brain than any other hallucinogen.
The first time, I smoked a good amount of 5x, and sat up out of my body to see what looked like an ethereal demon feasting on my soul. It was floating above me at my feet, and looked up at me. I heard a woman's voice say, "You're not supposed to see this," then I rolled off of my bed and into the fetal position and cried. It was quite strange. I felt pretty good for the next few days, but I didn't smoke any more.
The second time, I smoked 18x, and too much of it, and after trying to stand up I just spun around in a circle and blacked out. I came to feeling like shit for a while, like I had been completely violated. It gradually went away over the course of the night.

See, I dont belive that it does handicap your brain or decreses it usage. If anything proper drugs, some of the hallucigenic category, actually allow you to use more of your brain hence making you hallucinate as you stare at an object cause your seeing with more of your brain work, exagerating it.
Wait, I retract some of my statement. I will say that psychedelic drugs like acid or mushrooms allow you to open your mind and see the reality and allow you to hallucinate, but drugs like salvia are definetly not that much of a mind opener.

10-06-2006, 10:08 AM #38I'd agree with that. However, that perspective is coming from a brain that isn't functioning properly, so you're only experiencing the effects of a faulty brain-read:stupid brain.
look into hallucinogenics and just about every major ancient civilisation. in many cultures it was and is a foundation of religion. and I can see why.
of course, hallucinogens can be abused like any other substance, from cookies to alcohol to gasoline - the products we currently worship.

Probably is, but Id rather philosophy than sit in from of the tv like a typical stupid stoner and eat ding dongs. Dont get me wrong Im not thing "I only do constructive thing when Im high" kinda guy, I fuck around with my friends a lot, but Id rather do something creative rather than staring at the idiot box.

Tripping is a challenge. Sometimes it can be entertaining to lose control, then get it back. I think it is a lot more realistic that trying to argue against a point no one ever made (tripping makes you smart.)
You look like I need a drink.

Was there some assumption of mutual exclusion?
Being a delusioned hippy who thinks acid makes you smarter in the smarts, I do have to point out the failed wisdom in thinking that giving away blood boosts your tolerance. Quite the opposite........as any broke college kid has learned.......and exploitedBesides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp
