    Kid's ski gear

We tried on my sons boots from last year and they did not fit so we need to get new gear for him.

Anyone have any experience with purchasing or renting ski gear for a 5 year old? I was looking at those season rental programs, but I also saw Boulder Ski Deals had a full package for $189 with skis, boots and bindings.

Buying new gear does not bother me since we have a 2 year old as well.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I did season-long rentals for both my five-year-olds (now six) last year.

I think it was a good choice. When they improved, we brought in the skis for a DIN adjustment without voiding the indemnification. When one kid lost a pole in freshies, they just gave us a fresh pair. If their feet had grown enough during the season, they'd have upgraded free.

They're skiing on their own equipment this year, thanks to generous hand-me-downs from this board and end-of-season specials in April. But for beginner/intermediate gear, at about $100/season, it's a darned good deal.

Friend of mine outfits his kid at Boulder Ski Deals - same thing Alpinedad is talking about.

I have seven year old twins and I ended up with two pairs of new Atomic skis and Solly bindings at Sports Authority for $200 and two pairs of new Alpina boots from Play It Again Sports for $80. I think I did ok. It doesn't hurt that I have all the jigs I could possibly need for mounting and don't have to pay anyone to do it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I checked out Christy and Boulder Ski Deals. Similar plans only Ski Deals has a buy/buy back program that I think I might try out.
