TR from the weekend
Just for everybody's amusement, i'll post a here's a quick Trip report from my (almost) skiing weekend....
Summary so you don't have to read wade through the ramblings below - Work trip fell over weekend in Seattle, brought skis, couldn't use them this weekend b/c of Lumbergh. Got to hang out with Maggots and have them taunt me about not being able to ski. AKA Cock Tease from hell Weekend.
Friday
Friday night meeting up with the Rehabit(s) aka tibaher and bomber in Seattle for beers/food. Leave Bremerton around 6:45 or so and my east coast driving style takes over... driving 68/69mph S on Rt 16 towards Tacoma speed limits fluctuate a bunch (between 55 and 60) but figure keeping it under 70 will keep the cops from bothering me, at least thats how it works around DC. Well that turned out to be wrong... as I pass a cop with a speed trap setup in the division/ditch I realize I was speeding a bit but he doesn't pull out (ie no headlights or red/blues) so I figure no big deal and continue back up to my cruising speed. No aggressive driving, but just rather cruising a bit faster than everybody else when the traffic clears out. About 15 minutes later and a world away from the cop I passed, blue and reds start flashing behind me... pull off at an exit making sure to signal slow to a halt. Then proceeded to use all the good info from this everybody about getting pulled over (Turn car off place keys on dash, keeps hands on steering wheel/in cops view). Cop knocks on window and doesn't actually seem to have a stick up his ass. Tells me I passed him going 68 in a 55mph, and then caught up to me later doing 69 in a 55mph. Give him my license and start looking for the Rental Registration and realize I left it in my hotel room (brilliant i know). Anyway short story is I get off, probably because the paper work would have been too much and he lets me off. Phew close one, so I continue on the road to meet the everybody, going a bit slower but keeping up with traffic.
So get to Brewery and drinks ski stories appear with Joshbu showing up a bit later. I then get to hear about everybodys plans for Saturday and where they were headed. Great night ends with promises for skiing to be had soon.
Saturday
Work....
well not much more to say about it than that. Everybody I'd had drinks with last night were out getting the goods about 14" of them. I thought about telling them to blow me and go skiing, but realized I'd be fired by Monday and have to pay my own way back from Seattle. Talked to Rusty Nails about Superbowl party and he friendly ribbed me about his wonderful day at Alpental. Decided I was going to punch the person responsible for missing it in the morning and went to bed.
Sunday
Work...
two missed ski weekend days in a row on the west coast for no reason make VTskibum MAD (think **HULK SMASH**)! So go into meet Lumbergh who then gives me shit b/c I'm 5 minutes late for the 6:30am arrival time (and the second person there of 8) and consider giving my resignation. Work day proceeds of times where I had to walk outside to see the beautiful bluebird day and nice ski temps and contemplate giving Lumbergh a healthy dose of Paper cuts around the face and neck area in retribution for the beautiful day wasted. Finally Lumbergh tells everybody we can go 'home' around 1pm, just enough time to allow me to go skiing, but decided against it because I was heading to a Superbowl party at Casa de Rusty. So fortunately had an uneventful trip to Tacoma (ie no WA State Troopers) and got to hear another ear full of the days reports of how great it was, with Rusty's buddy completing the dagger to the back feeling with "...all this snow came up and was hitting me in the face..."
Anyway missed the half time show lounging in Rusty's hot tub and shooting the shit with plenty of dirty and talking animal jokes.
I hope everybody's weekend was better than mine, but if not I can sympathize.
(edit) just to end on a positive note, Will be skiing Sat and Sunday next weekend. Crystal Sunday for sure, Saturday is up in the air if anybody wants to meet up.Last edited by VTskibum; 02-02-2004 at 10:11 AM.

heh... nice trip report -- we'll try to get a crew together for next Sunday at Crystal. Hell, I even started a thread dedicated to the idea.

I'm still here until Friday the 13th (might have to change that flight to Thursday night) but I'm going to be able to ski Sat and Sunday next weekend.

If you weren't too cheap to take the ferry that wouldn't have happenedOriginally posted by VTskibum

It's not being cheap... it's called frugal, actually it's really laziness and b/c I've never bother to look up the Ferry schedule and with my usual luck I'll just miss it and have to wait for the next one.
