Ice- Thanks for havin my back, broah!

In all seriousness I think powder missed a useful opportunity to create truly useful discussion/thought with its readers by the piece and might suggest a letter to the ed "from" the board."It is not the result that counts! ??????
If you think that by using terms like 'drops in' and 'stupid' somehow sets a tone that is less than serious....well...I find it hard to believe that you have 1500 posts. That's kinda the way it is around here. I can speak slang, and I can definately type it.
To quote you: "In all seriousness I think powder missed a useful oppourntunity".
i think YOU missed a useful opp to create a useful discussion. Instead, you just got sidetracked by the term homeboy.

sorry broseph.
I enjoy humor more than the other option.
nobody's stopping you from continuing to make your point. Here I'll start:
"people who create this media that glorifies close contact with slides are free to do so, but they are the ones who need to sleep at night when teenagers are getting buried in the sidecountry"
Serious point there. I think there's just a very, very fine line between finding it distasteful and applying blame in advance of some tragedy that may or may not happen because somebody didn't have the good sense to distinguish the situations in the movies and magazines from what's going on around them.
I still think that it's entertainment, and we have to deal with it.
and I'm so totally way more gnar than you, homeboy.

who is applying blame?
the article was not the smartest thing to publish, and it did make it seem that getting caught in an avy made these guys super core. Do I think that the Crist bros are responsible for getting some douchebag worked in a slide? no.

Dude the first 16* posts in this thread were of an unserious nature and two prominent avy professionals have swung through to make lighthearted comments. I think that you need to take a little responsibility for how this thread has played out you whiney pussy. The number of posts I have has nothing to do with it (nor did I indicate that your number of posts has anything to do with anything either). I didn't miss a thing in this thread and simply commented on why and how it developed in the way it did because there was some question about that...you didn't see me appealing to any "post count" authority one the matter.
* including your original one"It is not the result that counts! It is not the result but the spirit! Not what - but how. Not what has been attained - but at what price.

One question.
If one is totally gnar enough to drop in parallel, does one always set off an avalanche when doing so?

I have to go to work, but you are completely contradictory.
One post you're saying that the thread was a mistake b/c I used improper english, which therefore made the whole thing not worth taking seriously as a discussion. next post you say that joking is all part of the game here and that your asshat comments should be taken lightly.
So which is it cockbreath? Should we be uber serious and take every post word for word, or do we make sure we understand that there should be some amount of undesrtanding that nothing is to serious.
god, you totally suck

In this day and age, where "Just do it" is not only a retired advertising slogan, but a mantra of bravado, you're going to find more and more noobs and ignorant yahoos out there trying to be gnar. Who cares about spending money or wasting time and effort on proper training? There's 2 feet of fresh from last night's storm and plenty of wind-blown pow coming in to boot. We gotta just do it! Bring the video camera cause if it slides, it'll look so awesome.
People today take for granted the dangers around them. Good health care, cool videos of extreme althletes and ever widening boundries of the impossible are helping to take away the general populace's appreciation of serious situations.
Personally, I like to be informed about what activity I'm doing, the risks associated with it and methods to deal with such risks. But you know what, being informed and taking caution can make you a pussy in some people's eyes. And nobody wants to be that guy. So, like the mantra goes, just do it.Last edited by ski_adk; 09-13-2006 at 09:14 AM.
