Can any Front Rangers with snowmobile knowledge check out a sled for me in Broomfield? You will be repayed one way or the other. PM me for more details.

its so hard with sleds.....shit can be tweaked just a tad and go to shit later....
wish I knew enough to help you.
No, I just want to make sure the sled is in at least close to the excellent condition he claims.Originally Posted by MOHSHSIHd
I'm nowhere close otherwise I'd give a hand but, there are some questions you can ask to see if he actually has his shit together or he let it go to crap. Alot of it depends on what kind of sled it is but.
Has it ever been wrecked?
When was the last time it was in the shop?
What kind of engine work has been done? If so how many miles since?
Any missing/torn lugs on the track?
Was this his first sled?
Where was it kept?
What aftermarket parts are on it?
I'm sure there are more, thats just all I can think about this morning, post what kind of sled it is and I get some more sled specific ones.
It's a 2002 SKi Doo Summit Highmark X 800 with 2k miles. I'll probably need to drive down tonight since he is moving the next day.
Sweet. Bring cash and low ball him.
Would if I had cash. He better accept paypal.Originally Posted by 45hill
drench...sounds like a decent sled, i have an 02 800 summit highmark, but not an x package..almost identical models...Originally Posted by funkendrenchman
heres some things to scope out......
bring a compression gauge and check compression....
check exhaust system.stock or aftremarket? any cracks /leaks/hows it sound/smell? exhaust parts routinely crack from vibration
check front trailing arms/ a arms for any bends / out of alignment issues
broken plastic, such as cowlings, are expensive, so inspect closely for cracks
suspension....pull up on rear of sled all the way and then watch if it stays up, drops a little or drops hard...telling you condition of the 2 shocks under the tunnel, check for visible oil leakage of shocks, same on front
track condition...cords frayed or showing, broken/missing teeth abuse etc...tracks are pretty spendy
odds are you are gonna need bar risers if it doesnt have....
just my 2 cents, but if you can afford to buy an o3 or newer you will get the rev body style....MUCH MUCH better platform then the 02 summit the difference between the old style and the REV is insane....thats why it revolutionized the industry...so much more user friendly... seriously , my 02 800 seems like a neanderthal compared to my 06 1000
but ...ski doo is the best choice you wont regret it
good luck and post pics!!!
