I saw my first woolies of the year a couple of days ago. Last night riding my MB, it was definitely cooler and the trails are much better, now that we've had some rain. The forest had that smell and the shadows were longer... It has clearly started.

Totally the turn. It climbed to over 100F in my yard Thurs/Fri here in Santa Cruz less than a mile from the Pacific. That is the turn folks. When summer finally warms up here, we are pushing into Fall. We should stay warm for a bit, while things start to cool off inland. Love that Fall is coming.
Still, we are a ways off. Still have a summer wind system, with strong NW winds brewing by mid day, every day. Fog bank hanging just at or off the coast each morning. I’ll let y’all know when the typical autumn high pressure sets up, and storms are raging across the NPAC sending long period swells.
For me the Turn is when we start to get south winds and clouds here in Santa Cruz. Usually just before Thanksgiving.
It is still summer until later this week.

2 Pacific storm fronts and accumulating snow from 7,500' & up in the cascades over the next several days. At higher elevations (camp Muir) possibly near 3' but wind might scour half (or more) of it away. Good to see some stronger systems brewing. Don't know if the jet stream has anything to do with this but stacked weather systems in the north pacific is a damn good sign.

After a very mild spring/summer in JH, the aspens have begun to turn here and there and I've been driving through snow squalls on and off for a week above 8k.
Farmer's almanac has us set up for a long cold snowy winter.

Wife made me “turn” the heat on last night.
Guess it has begun.

Tuesday marked the first rainfall in the SF Bay Area since May and a dusting of snow at Squaw. Raining again this morning, definitely hit the turn and it feels good.
