On my ride last night, saw some vegetation slightly turning, and a few times got that whiff of decaying vegetation that screams "Fall". It is coming.

Early morning, Crested Butte. Green as hell. If it’s not the Turn yet here, it’s not the turn anywhere. So knock it off. Even the top of Cottonwood Pass is mid summer.

I wore arm warmers for the first part of my ride yesterday. That's something, right? But really, the Turn can't even be considered until after Labor Day weekend.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Open to traffic both ways. They need to add another lift of asphalt to about 1.5 miles on the west side on the westbound lane.

No trailers no bikes on that side. Not sure if they will open it to those after the lift is complete, which I’m guessing will be a few days, or wait till after they put up guardrails, which will take longer.

really irritated with the "no trailers" thing. Was all excited that I might be able to go Cottonwood to get to my campsite by the Taylor River this year, but no.... Bastards.

Just be grateful you don't live in Washington. Out here, after the road fell into disrepair, they would just permanently close it and let nature reclaim it.

Also, you people who are talking about feeling the turn after Halloween are just as wrong as the guy who bumped it back in early August.

I guess what I am saying is that I generally don’t feel like skiing until after Halloween, I still wanna be riding my bike. But the ‘turn’ comes earlier than that.

The "Turn" has started for me personally. I'm down to 15 weeks of work before my winter gig starts as a professional skier sponsored by.... well, me. LOL. Jokes aside, the turn has been internal. Started the leg blasters routine + paddle boarding + tennis + slacklining + hot tubbing + sauna training regimen. Currently up to 6 mini leg blasters. Legs are getting stronger and growing. Still far from ski shape, but those leg blasters are legit.

Also started the yearly skibum diet of: I cannot buy beer, but I can drink it if offered by friends (saves money and shaves lbs.). This year's mental "turn" has been the strongest yet. And I hope it is a grand payout as I'm heading back to Whistler for the winter. The turn is real over here.

Local said all his hickory trees had dropped their nuts. Kind of early for that.

Hiked up on the mtn with my buddy, he wanted to inspect the logging work. Some color here and there, mostly sugar Maples.
