Pumpkin ales fully stocked on shelves at the local market. Usually one of the first signs that summer is ending around these parts.

Cinnamon scented pine cones at the ACME...and it's 95 effin degrees!!!!

Every year, I'm reminded how much I hate them: 1) why cover up the scent of pine???? 2) if you want pine cones...come to my yard and take as many as you want...for free!!!

I also hate seeing pumpkin ales before Oct 1. And generally hate drinking them!

Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled "Turn!"
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

If it's not the turn, I'm approaching the corner with the rain and cool, broken dahlias, nasturtiums going to seed and a few soggy brown leaves on the drive.

I don't know if this is the Turn but it sure is welcome relief from two months of heat, no rain, and thick smoke. Big Sky and Jackson got some snow over the weekend so there are signs.

For some cruel double dark irony of 'the turn' that occurred in mid august or so: The area around Burns Lake B.C. Canada has been ravaged by forest fires that continue to roar. Meanwhile, overnight low temps have been at or below freezing for 10 of the past 13 days.

    Nice.

Saw a kid in the grocery store wearing a "Think Snow" shirt.
    Told him, emphatically: "Good Man."
He and his friend both grinned big.

Seconded. Saw some yellow aspens and even a few of those leaves on the ground in Eagle this past Friday.

Woke up to my first chill in a long time. Nice to be sitting here, nice and cool. Looking at the weather around the west coast, it seems to be cooling off, so ya, maybe we have made the turn from summer to fall.

Yup mid 30 lows here too, the air isn’t so dry and the shadows getting longer.
Was in our village butcher shop yesterday with a T-shirt from 10bbl Brewing that sez “Pray For Snow”. ”
Tourist lady points and sez “what’s that about?”
I said “there’s two seasons here - good skiing and crappy skiing. Good skiing season starts in about 90 days”

Warms up going into the weekend. The house is 81 right now, so I guess the AC will be back on for the next 4+ days when it is warmer out. C'mon fall. Bring it.

I finished the gin. Guess it's time for scotch. And so the Turn occurs.

Funny, I had my first glass of the season last night. I was delighten to find the Caol Ila 18 in the back of my cabinet.

Looks like we may have made the turn. Below 80 degrees going forward would be nice.

I left Grand Lake at 4pm yesterday and it was 83. When I got up this morning in Tabernash, it was 19. I don't know if that is a turn, but I like it.
