They have some fairly inexpensive turntables out there. Just got an oldie from a friend. May upgrade down the road. Back to the roots.

Just finished reading the NOFX book, made me like them even more than I did. Smelly is the fucking man. His story was the most riveting. I love Hefe! And Fat Mike is way smarter than I thought he was. He did a very good job steering that ship of fools. Good read.

Punk Music Is Good
First heard of Shonen Knife on the "Sub-pop 100" comp in the late 80's, with their track "a day of the factory". I was intrigued; then they had their fifteen minutes of fame with "Bear up, Bison!" In the early 90's, and I caught them on tour in MPLS. Hilariously good/bad music, like the Shaggs, but with talent. They played the "shy Japanese girls" thing perfectly.
I had no idea they were still around.

Loved the book, but listening to audiobook would still be a treat.

So the new Rise Against album is solid:
[cue a bunch of people whining about how Rise Against isn't "punk" because they were formed after 1975 and they're not Nazi skinheads and because their guitars are in tune or whatever bullshit]
That said their recent music is certainly more polished and drags the line between rock/hardcore/punk/whatever but listening to the lyrics they seem to have re-discovered a bit of their edge and venom compared to their last two offerings. I guess the Trump presidency offers a bit more fodder for a liberal-leaning political band?

Keeping the thread alive. Here's a band that took the best parts of the Ramones,
Dolls, Stooges, and wrapped em up in a great rock n roll package.
It still gets me moving. https://youtu.be/qLTHR1my04Q

^^^^ Quality stuff! And that Feederz song I first heard on the "Let them eat Jellybeans" compilation. Played it so much that it developed a skip on that song. Nice to hear it again.

I played "Jesus" often on my college radio show in the mid 80's. Catholic college. I got in trouble.
