Ramones debut album released this day in 1976. Fucking A what a good album. 14 songs in 29 minutes.

Too young to see them earlier, but saw them at HUB ballroom in 1984 at UW.

Just re-listening to “I don’t want to go down to the basement”. Still sounds relevant after 44 years!

Just found out that David Greenfield of the Stanglers passed away last week from covid19. This song was on a double album compilation called Burning Ambitions - a History of Punk that was very influential in my youth. I can't help but cranking this up, over 40 years later and it still resonates.

The album art originally on the backside of that record is a real surprise, while at the same time being perfectly obvious.

This could probably go under a few different genres, but I'll put it here.

Burning Ambitions was on constant replay in my college house. Brilliant. I think I have every Stranglers album too; so good. YouTube has a brilliant set of them on some shitty TV show, refusing to lip-sync. Worth a watch.

Brilliant album. Collab with Ty Segal and Ex-Cult. Check out out ex-cult for more punk rant.

Listened to this one yesterday for this first time in forever. Though Dealing With It is my fave, this is probably their best imo. Demands volume.

On that^^^, does anyone else quietly mutter the rest of the line anytime they hear ‘John Wayne’ mentioned?

Everytime I hear John Wayne mentioned. Been doing it for over 30 years. At least he's not anymore.

It is sad that in those 30 years not much has change. America, land of the free. Free to the power of the people in uniform.

Guess it's time for the obligatory running of the 10th track from the second album:

I saw DGA a couple times in Portland. Fun band. Pals of mine opened for them.
