I'll be damned; as recently as 2012, NOFX could still write a song. Half the time anyway...

    Punk Music Is Good

Can’t believe I’ve never heard of The Screamers. Really good and a cool story behind the band (Thanks, No Dogs). First album being released this year.

Thanks for the link transplant, I took a quick skim and I’ll toss that on the big screen tonight. Lots of great OC bands and skaters.

So I recently got a text from my brother that brought back some fun memories. My middle school niece is taking guitar lessons and the teacher hands out band stickers if they play for the group. She got a Misfits sticker. I guess the teacher buys bulk packs of stickers from Amazon and he didn’t know who the Misfits were. When my niece got home she asked my brother if he knew and he said hang in a minute. Went and dug out the jacket I made for him 30+ years ago. Click image for larger version.

Also in the box he found one of my old jackets that I thought was gone. Lived in this jacket from 85-88. Cut the sleeves off and wore over a leather jacket. The denim is still around, wish the leather was. That was lost to a crazy ex. Click image for larger version.

Still one of the best albums ever. Not a bad song in it.

That is rad and impressive. GI is the only album cover I could ever reliably recreate.

I saw them in 86 at the VFW in Albany NY with Dag Nasty. Amazing show. Even got to beat the shit out of a couple of nazi punks during intermission. Fuck Nazi punks.

Finally got around to watching this. Not what I was expecting but pretty cool none the less. Never really knew about the cuckoos nest, seemed like my kind of place. One of the best parts was learning the story behind this song.

Punks not dead, it's alive and strong with these youngins from the land down under.

By far my most favorite band right now.

Still living the core values, at least I'd like to think so.

They are still at it. Roger has been dealing with cancer this pst year or two. Vinnie will die with a mohawk and in his Docs. A high school hard core bud of mine does sound stuff for all the old school NYHC/DMS bands. He travels all over the world with those guys. His Instagram is pretty dope.

I love so many bands that are clearly influenced by (or just plain ripping off) The Ramones: Descendents, NOFX, Misfits, Dwarves, etc. American Punk has been my absolute favorite genre for over 20 years, I listen to it nearly daily and it irrefutably wouldn’t exist without the Ramones.

Yet, as many times as I’ve tried to get into them, I’ve never been able to.

    Until now.

    Now I get it.

Three buds getting by the only way they know: 80’s hardcore, blink 182, dealing with your 30s, 2 day hangovers, not skateboarding anymore.

I found that as well about four months ago. Absolutely amazing, even more so when you see what year it was.
