Been listening to a lot of punk on the Sirius Punk Channel. One band that stands out, that I didn't know anything about, is the Distillers. I think the best song was called Seneca Park.
Give it a listen on Pandora. It is all pretty good.

I don't like the dystopia album much. Same whiny stuff.
Tragedy can do what they like I don't care.
what maiden are we talking about here?

how can you not like tragedy?
the one with iron in front of it. I just looked actually, they aren't coming here. I am going to be living in LA all summer, and they are touring there. I thought they were coming here too.
what about dead meadow? bunch of stoner hippies?

all skrewed up didn't have any white power undertones or message to it. it was just solid 77 style punk. antisocial is about perfect for a punk song.

i haven't even gone skiing this week because I was more stoked on saving up money for that than driving down i70.

Pennywise, anything from straight ahead back. The Sex Pistols have some of my favorite songs ever. The Great Rock n' Roll Swindle is probably my all-time favorite song.
"Have you ever seen a monk get wildly fucked by a bunch of teenage girls?" "No" "Then forget the monastery."
"You ever hear of a little show called branded? Arthur Digby Sellers wrote 156 episodes. Not exactly a lightweight." Walter Sobcheck.
"I didn't have a grandfather on the board of some fancy college. Key word being was. Did he touch the Filipino exchange student? Did he not touch the Filipino exchange student? I don't know Brooke, I wasn't there."

Want to go to converge, but having a day job in Leadville makes it rough to make a sunday night show. I'm going to pick being responsible this weekend. I've seen them a few times though, and Krazyfest in Louisville, 2001 was definitely the best. The singer walked out on top of the crowd stepping on their heads, then he smashed his own head in with the microphone and bled everywhere - all while the band was just killing it. That and the lineup that day included, botch, converge, boy sets fire, bane, dillinger escape plan (with the singer from coalesce singing), poison the well, and a bunch of other good bands.

that is a long ass drive home after a show.
i think the best time I have ever seen converge was when they toured with hatebreed in like 01/02?. right when hatebreed was starting to get bigger yet still playing small venue. never seen so much carnage before. bannon smashed himself in the face with the mic and bled everywhere then dove into the crowd. guess he does that a lot.
hardcore in the early 00's was fun. never went to krazyfest but did make it out to some of those first posi numbers.
remember when 18v/bleeding through/everytime i die/throwdown tourned the country nonstop and kids went off? or opposite of december was the greatest metalcore album ever written?
always moshing.
were you ever into striking distance? they are playing sound and fury this summer, should be good times. not to mention underdog..

random question, did you ever post on instrife?
-
04-12-2008, 09:40 PM #195
Yeah, I'm bummed not to catch converge. wish it was on a saturday, especially since they've been an opening act and playing in a bigger venue the last couple times they've been through. Converge at the Marquis could be like old times.
never got into striking distance really, but underdog is cool. never posted on instrife either. Used to follow the trustkill boards a bit though.Ride Fast, Live slow.

don't feel bad about missing it. bannon didn't say anything the whole set except about five seconds of "i am ugly, bones are sticking out of my hand, and i don't give a fuck." there was minimal mosh to anything not on no heroes. some dude got head stomped like 20 times during jane doe though.
worst converge set i have ever seen.
