Viva - yeah, jawbreaker
I'm not following the new punk scene much, but I'd guess there is some good shit out there. Anyone with some leads. Real punk - no Blink pansy crap.

Wire's Pink Flag is a damn fine punk rock record. They moved away from punk pretty quickly, though. You'd have a hard time calling their second album, Chairs Missing, a punk record.
Blink-182 is great.
The trumpet scatters its awful sound Over the graves of all lands Summoning all before the throne
Death and mankind shall be stunned When Nature arises To give account before the Judge
I actually really dug Blink's first record....Cheshire Cat...when it first came out. It was so unproduced and sloppy it was pure gold. Was one of my college soundtracks I guess. But so were several Madball, Warzone, and Slapshot records...so yeah, I'm weird.Originally Posted by Greydon Clark

Also -- check out Sludgeworth. Maybe more pop-punkish, but way under-rated during their day back in '89-ish or so. Featuring several members of Screeching Weasel, they dominated the Chicago scene for about as much as you can for a year, before breaking up. Lookout Records still carries their discography CD (which isn't complete, which kills me, because there's this one song from an early 7" of theirs that I've been searching 4Ev3R 4!!!...arrrgghhh!!!)
Here's a few tracks:

Waste your time, read my crap, at:
One Gear, Two Planks
kind of expensive, $35 (+Ticketmaster charges) so i am still trying to decide if i will see them again or if i will see the more reasonably priced Raconteurs show, the next day, it is only $25. Both would be good showsOriginally Posted by adam

$35 is powerful pricey. I guess thats Red Rocks though. I'd rather see Social D, but I don't really have $35 at this time.
Yeah i was thinking about going to one of those concerts with you guys, but 35$ its kinda expencive. I'd rather buy new ski's.
Same baxter
You can't leave the Sex Pistols out, you guys have no idea how much they energized things. And it still sounds good loud.
but are you not just starting a job that pays rather well...Originally Posted by adam

Yep, leaving for the first day in 30 minutes. I'll probably end up going. Lets just see the Raconteurs.
Ahhhhh, I think you and I could probably argue about those terms (along with Oi! and Skinhead Ska), and their historical significance for hours. But that's a discussion to be had over beers at a Summit party, so I'll save it.Originally Posted by marshalolson
Anyone into noise punk? I thought I'd give it a shot and picked up some Locust, and downloaded some Genghis Tron and Blood Brothers. I'm really into anything that pushes the boundaries, so I like this stuff.
As far as newer punk bands that haven't gone the way of Blink, et al., I kind of dig Union 13 for the fast/loud stuff, and I really like Raised Fist, who are more in the hardcore vein.
Some other random new shit that peaks my interest:
Error = Punktronica - Atticus Ross (former programmer for Trent Reznor), Leopold Ross, and Brett Gurewitz fuse punk and electronica.
Behold...The Arctopus = Experimental noise punk/metal - Fuggin' amazing musicians. It's almost like an acid jazzed metal/punk mix. More rhythm than noise punk, more musical than either punk or metal, and really creative.
i seriously heart rancid. if you hate them we probably can't be friends.
All time fav is The Clash. I also enjoy Dropkick Murphys, bouncing souls, op ivy (heh), and being from Edmonton SNFU of course.
edit:heh. I dated this guy in high school who was in a crap emo band... It didn't work out mostly because i hated AFI.Originally Posted by funkendrenchman
