I mean, you're more right than I am. But the Bay Area's had tons of great hardcore over the years. Houston... far less. Not even a lot in TX... so I'm claiming DRI.

Although, H-Town developed a pretty strong 2nd Wave Hardcore scene in the early 2000s. But that growling metal shit sucks, so who cares.

All good. Just ribbin' ya. Back in the 80's & 90's, our(BA) cup runneth over with hard music. It was a glorious time to be alive.

Oh yeah, I could tell. Just wanted to keep talkin' about the bad ol' good days. Now we've got no one to blame, nothing to change, and no evil to fight.

But the Bay Area definitely had yalls fair share of great bands. Harder and less popular than your more southerly neighbors I suppose. And yall had a couple notable metal groups around that same time too.

The thrash scene was just so good. Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, Primus(call what you will but they were part of it), Violence.
The shame of it is that I was so wrapped in that, that I missed the boat on the punk scene going on in Berkeley and such. I grew into punk a few years later but really kinda just missed it. I go to more punk shows now than I did then by far.

I used to go to shows at The Farm in SF. An actual farm in the Mission. Circling was a big thing. One gig was TSOL a SOCAL band and the band was stunned by the circle: Bicycles, wheelchairs, everything. The circle was so big you literally had to climb the wall to not be in it. That was a cool time. Lots of old storefront gigs and stores. Anyone remember The Compound? Punk culture and fashion.

A course of action no one can fault you for. The Bay Area punk scene was good, but the thrash scene was world class.

I went the opposite route, I was devoted to punk rock at 18 and didn't expand my metal tastes until 28.

Maybe that is where it became known as "The Pit".
Fwiw, the term Circle Pit annoys me. It shouldn't, but it does. It's just and always will be the pit to me.

I’m talking about circling. Not pit style. Think Midnight Express. It was not violent and pre slam. Never seen anything like it.

Hey, in the clubs it wasn't that violent.
Knock your friend to the ground, pick him up and go back 'round'.

Some great times getting exhausted and gathering in a small group in the center while the pit circled around you while you helped pick up the fallen and get em back in the game. It was community.

    Sorry about the thread drift.

I saw them open for NOFX. They are a fun band and turn it up when they come on Faction. From the punk capital of Wyoming IIRC.

I'm quite late to the show but I saw them 2 years ago with The Dropkick Murphys and it was probably one of the better shows I've been to!!

py video I found from the show...

Good video. Dudes wearing golf shirts. Probably got in a round before the show.
