Yeah it’s close to I70 but think of the basement space for a new TGR server rack and not one, not two, but three new box fans!

Interesting chair lift ride yesterday with one of the folks involved with the 2001 push to incorporate Big Sky. It fell apart when the homeowners who are not MT residents were told they would not be able to vote unless they became MT residents.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    What's wrong with the location?

Looks like the old chairlift top terminal was more or less where the house is now.

edit: here's a photo. Notice the house at the top of the ridge.

I suppose that would be a problem for a ski area, but there's got to be enough to make it fun from time to time if you owned the house. At least it's north facing. The bigger problem might be that the skiable terrain probably isn't part of your property.

I suppose once a decade there might be enough snow for it to be "fun"...

Add some snowmaking and lights and it would be pretty fun. I grew up about a mile from there

So it was simply a public pressure campaign by non-residents? Because I am pretty sure only people who are registered to vote on the state level get to vote in deciding whether to incorporate a municipality. In other words, the people who actually LIVE within the boundary of the proposed municipality and are registered to vote in MT could decide to incorporate, notwithstanding the fucking goons at the YC. I get that's more or less what you said...but I don't get it.

Lots of out of state homeowners outside the Y/C especially at that point in time. Probably 3-4x the Y/C.

There are only about 800 residences inside the Gate all told in 2022.

Wow, that many? That's hardly what I would call an "exclusive" club. Fuck, that money would have been better spent in the RFV: better skiing, biking, and history of property value appreciation.

Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Some members are now selling because of that exact issue. And as for the RFV, you are probably more than 100% right.

The Y/C has pretty good skiing but compared to Highlands/Ajax/Snowmass its not even a contest.

Funny, I was there Wednesday and Thursday and was thinking it was the first time all season the mountain actually seemed like it had decent coverage, something akin to what it should have had six weeks ago. Guess this year has warped my perspective. (Actually I did hear Challenger was rocky, but who the fuck skis Challenger. )

    Isn't Challenger always "rocky"?
