No, it's been the same forever. I've probably mentioned this at some point in here previously, but here goes. I'm living in VT and I tell a native VT'er that I'm moving to New Mexico. He responds, "you're moving out of the country?" I reply, "no, New Mexico." The bewildered look on his face made me repeat myself again and I think I said near Arizona. Fast forward a couple months in New Mexico. Speaking with a local and he asks where I'm from. I respond, VT. He looks at me sideways and says, "where?" I responded, "VT, up by NY." Everyone knows NY...aside from upstate.

Next thing you're going to tell me is that Alaska is the easternmost state!

I used to walk or ride by that thing daily. After a while, I stopped doing double takes, but it never got to the point where it looked 'normal'

Lots of Homer's Bubble Car Houses in that hood

Pretty good (i.e., bad) example from my neighborhood. Kind of sad that everyone involved apparently thought this was a good idea.

That is so wrong in so many ways.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I'm picturing the meeting with the architect going down like this:

That the architect mentally counting the profit after the client says “I drew this in google sketch up and want you to get this through permitting”, right?

Kinda hard to squeeze a multi bed single family home with an adu onto a postage stamp and not have it look like shit.

Yup, I have to live in the home of over built lots (city allows a 75% FAR). Every lot is built to the absolute limit. Some look ok if the lot is 5k+ but the smaller lots often look like shit.

Yeah, lifting the whole house would've been better, and they would've gained more sq ft.

Lots of lots don't look like much, you're saying?

We built to the max on our postage stamp but made dam sure it looked nice from the front. Neighbor skipped on his front and looks like a tower.
