A mil gets you a mansion on 5 acres in northern BC. However there maybe some debate as to where "northern" BC starts. I wish we had a definitive dividing line like New Yorkers.

Sadly, it's an asset, whether or not the rest of us see it that way. At 172sq ft and the ~$2000/sq ft RE cost in Aspen, you quickly jump over $300k. It also costs $1,780/yr in HOA dues and $1,620 in property taxes, per year. My friend and hair stylist is trying to buy her commercial space in that building right now; we'll see how her negotiations work out for 780 sq ft.

I know a rich guy/man about town type who just doesn't pay for parking, daily, in town. He gets a $25 ticket most days, but I guess it's "easier" than not paying for him? Drives a Defender and G Wagon, wears a Barbour jacket, etc etc.

At least the selling agent is the real deal and good people. Lauren is Anton Sponar's wife - he runs Ski Arpa in Chile and is a Salomon/Eider spansered skier/guide here in town. Good people.

Why is everything cheaper upstate? I mean pick a state, and just about every state is cheaper upstate. Except for maybe HI. Hard to figure out which way is upstate on an island.

Kauai is the northernmost island, and is generally expensive. The big island is the southernmost, and has some really inexpensive real estate from Hilo down to the lava flows, so downstate?

Correct, that was not the purpose in mind when purchased. Sure, everything is double the cost of the Slowvo and maybe 50% more than the 4 series, but I factored that in before pulling the trigger.
You really should rethink trying to cut in on other cars, as I am sure that will end up badly for you at some point and then you will need a newer car too.

One can get away with alot of deffered maintenance in the winter down there but you get up to PG and that don't play so if you don't have the good battery/ studded snows/ everything working ... you will be walking

The prices in Toronto and anything within like 100 miles (sorry dont do metric) are nuts though eh? That same Mil in Toronto gets you a dump these days..maybe there is your dividing line? I dont get those provinces...

forcing people to park outside of town and pay 10 or 20 bucks a nite because all new developments have very little parking is pretty funny

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the same company that hands out the tickets in Breck are the ones we got here in CB this summer. Basically the same as the Simpsons Monorail guy, they came into a council meeting and said "Make parking really hard and confusing and we'll hand out the tickets". And the stupid council was like "sounds good!".

Town councils in ski towns have totally jumped the shark these days. They just aren’t equipped to handle the plethora of societal issues caused by the virus. Cutting down on STRs is just cutting off their nose to spite their faces. It is pretty amazing to watch how inept they all are. They should really consider investing their increased tax revenue into hiring some folks that actually know wtf they are doing.

Frisco was going to require all people staying in the town short or long term to prove vaccination or be fined. Wtf? I’m all for vaccinating everyone but what kind of stupid shit is that?

Breck parking is pretty easy though, now that I have three different passes hanging from my rear view and a code for the app that is. Haha.
