It gets built.,....but despite all the taxes, the promises and increased taxes....has it been fixed? Will it "ever" be fixed? It might be fixed for a few select people....but the problem itself still exists.

ha, I guessed that's what it was.

"What problems have been fixed with taxation?" is the dumbest question I've heard in a long time.

I'd argue that they're a bigger part of this community than someone who bumps chairs for a season and then goes home. Somehow there is a balance between the 2, but I don't know what or how that comes about.
I know lots of remote workers. Some fit that profile. Many don't. That isn't a dig on remote workers. Same goes for locally employed folks.

However, why compare an upper class remote worker to a lower class liftie in terms of community service? They have different amounts of free time, age, and needs for additional jobs. However, maybe compare your remote worker to someone of similar role who is locally employed. But they both need someone to bump the chair, stock the grocery shelves and work at the hospital.

I don't hate remote workers. I'd love to be fully remote. Maybe I'd move to CB! The truth is we don't need 1/3 of our mountain community to be remote workers for NY and CA tech corps a few of whom are willing to serve on a board of directors and dig a bit. If they worked in the same role locally they might be willing to perform similar contributions. However, they are while working for businesses that don't contribute to the community while still competing for resources with locally employed people.

Pointing out exceptional people giving community service falls flat when the argument was not about their personal involvement in the community.

There is no universal solution to social ills...why? Human nature...8 million worldly individual opinions ...even the opposite extreme - universal coercion hasn't solved these ills nor made everyone happy.

    8 Million? Interesting
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I'd say no, if you're interested in addressing the housing issue for locals...

Where do you draw the line?
I'd propose at the point that "short-term" changes to "long-term"... 6 months, perhaps?

Tax the business, not the property.
This would be acceptable, if there were a rational plan to do it.

And all of these costs will be passed on to the consumer. So remember, if you ever plan on traveling and staying anywhere, it is going to come out of your pockets. So you are advocating for a tax on yourself. The circle of life.
Yes. I'm absolutely advocating for a tax on myself.

But back to the task at hand. 19,679 posts and nobody has a solution to this housing thing yet?

Which country has this figured out? Maybe we copy them?

Should tax be used as a weapon to reduce STRs and then we will figure out what to spend the money on later?

Oh, that's easy. Stalinist authoritarian overthrow of our government, and an apartment/flat for every family in the new housing projects. Comrade.

Well I didn't say that they wouldn't....read the post and pause first before racing to your keyboard. Just a friendly suggestion...maybe people wouldn't razz you so much if you did that.
