    Avalanche Safety Device tested PART TWO

    Don't seem to be able to post any more pics on the first thread, may have maxed it out with too many pics. If you are not completely bored with these frame by frame avalanche sequences, here's another.

    This is the third control avalanche set off to make the valley below safe to enter. This is also the avy that produced a school bus sized chunk of the crown which hurtled down the mountain and smashed into the valley below, well ahead of the avalanche that coughed it up. The impact of the chunk hitting the valley was caught on video, but not on this series of pics.

    Here's the chunk airborne, look out below.............

    So anyway.........here's the picture sequence of this third of 4 control avalanches produced to secure the valley. It was a real monster by the time it hit the bottom...........

    You can see a smaller avalanche trying to get started to the left of the main avalanche...........
