PSA, Costco has Ommegang Rare beer sets for $25.

I also preordered a Robobrew, pretty stoked to get it.

This will allow me to brew in winter or bad weather. Sounds like sometime in Dec.

I went to Costco last night because of the Ommegang thing, the one CO location with alcohol had the game of thrones edition for I think $16. I've never watched the show but grabbed one anyway, the beers sound interesting.

Putting together a COlab. Norwegian farmhouse yeast in a wheat wine, with spruce tips, juniper, and gin botanicals. Calling it "Gin-U-Wine" or something like that.

Yes, it's intended for aroma only. Ideal for those Nu England IPAs

Much better than the hypo injectors filled with that tar like hop reduction that coats everything and is a PITA to clean.

Haven't played with those yet. I had some samples but they weren't big enough so gave em away. A friend who has used em complained of a gritty feel to the beer, like they didn't drop out in the whirlpool or the ferm. Don't know. I'll try em someday.

The Cryo hops? They kick ass. A little goes a long way. I did a Pale with 1/2 oz magnum pellets for bittering, 1/2oz cryo Mosaic at 10min, 1/2oz cryo Mosaic at flame out and 1oz cryo Mosaic dry hop. Delicious, dropped clean and no grittiness. I have another in primary now but doubled the 10min addition and moved the flame out addition to a 30 minute 170 degree hop stand and bumped it up to 1oz. Dry hop will still be 1oz. After sampling I'll repeat the better of the two with all the cryo varieties, Citra is up next, they were delivered today.

Been getting used to the T500, ran off my first batch today.

A buddy is gonna rig me up a rheostat so I can dial the heating element back after boil or to hold a given temp such as for sparge water.

Here's a question: I'm putting together a keggle system. Mash tun is powered by a 1000W water heater element on a thermostat. I want my kettle to be able to boil in a hurry, debating between 2 x 1000w electric OR, 1 X 1000w and a bayou burner. I can't go higher wattage without tripping a breaker. So, hybrid or all electric?

All electric is the way to go these days for many. Have an electrician install a dedicated circuit of proper size for your needs.

I like the pots with 1.2KW and 500W heaters that can be used separately or together. Lots of options these days.

    Shop around.

I tweaked my neck something serious which is keeping me off the sticks on this otherwise glorious day. What do do? Brew!

Here’s my 3 gallon SMASH batch boiling. Everyone in the brew club is brewing a MO/centennial SMASH for the February meeting.

I took 1 lb of the MO and soaked it in warm water for a few hours and then put in the oven to “caramelize” it. Another 1/2 lb got dry roasted in the oven. I hope it comes out somewhere around an Irish Ale to enjoy the weeks leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.
