I can't get back home until mid-June, that much I know. If I manage to get back while you are there, yes, we should definitely make some turns.

MD9: I'd still go to Yurp if I was you - so much good terrain that runs out to trails cos it is only a 15 min bootpack along a ridge from a lift.Officially OB, but so close it is easy to dump your pack in the locker, ride a few chairs, walk a little, drop a line, then ski over to a mtn resto and drink a coffee on the deck and look at your tracks. Especially true in the bigger areas - Tignes/Val d'Isere, Les Arcs, Cham, etc...
W/B
Silverton
Taos

Lenas

Fernie
Mt Olympus, NZ
Engleberg
Verbier
wow, it would be so easy to extend this list, haven't even got any UT or French areas on there, let alone the Pyrenees or Asia...Riding bikes, but not shredding pow...

Those last 4 ski areas will complete all of the top 30 for me. I think I need another 5 after that to complete the top 50 vertical resorts in North America. It's just one of those weird OCD things. You know.

Oh, it's not all about exotics for me, it's cost. I'm not in N.America, so a round the world ticket costs the same as a ticket to N.Am or Europe alone. Makes sense to hit up all I can. The last few winters have been in poverty at WH20 and Golden incidentally. Just didn't expect to see Sun Peaks in this thread!! No offence to Sun Peakers, but it's a "fine family resort".

I was thinking about this thread, planning a trip fo the upcoming winter, if it happens... looked it up and realized over the past 15 years I've knocked off 22 of the 30 from my to-do list, several of them skiing with other mags.
Hoping to get to Zinal this season.
Edit to add: I didn't bump this as a humblebrag, I was just really kinda psyched that this community has truly developed and helped me realize some of my ski dreams. Also it was kind of a trip down memory lane, especially with a thread started by bad_roo.Last edited by Tri-Ungulate; 08-31-2021 at 08:36 PM.
