    Ha I remember gas being around $.90/gallon in Jersey in the late 90s. Hell, it was even $1.30 or so about 3 years ago.

    It was that price in the late 90's, when oil was about $10-20 a barrel.

    Christ, I just filled up with premium yesterday here in Boulder for 2.89/gal. Sounds like my next fillup wil be a good 20-30 cents higher.

    When I moved to Laramie in 1997, that winter it hit .87/gallon.

    I don't know what it is today, But I need to fill up the Explorer this weekend.

    Remember US demand is the primary force that lets gas companies charge what they want. Reduce the demand, and the price increases will follow.

    Next time you see someone getting low milage in their vehicle or making unneccessary trips thank them for increasing your prices too.

    Why yes, I have been commuting to work by bicycle this week..... 15 miles each way, and it feels good (and only takes about 10 minutes longer than driving).

    Just a rant:

    I FUCKING HATE the stupid CC machines on the pumps b/c many/most of them have 50 or 75 dollar limits, at these prices hitting 75 per fill is easy for me and doing two transactions makes me angry beyond reason. DUMB.

    It cost me $90 to fill up a mid size rental car in London the other week. I should have Fed Ex'd some gas over there to use - would have been cheaper.

    Yeah, it hurts to pay that at the pump. That's part of the reason I sold my snowmobile, and own two Toyota Corolla's.

    Here's my problem - I was going to start riding my bike to work, but the wife and I commute together and she works a few blocks from me (about 9). Even if I ride my bike, she is still going to drive about the same distance, plus she works on campus, so she will be circling around looking for parking, burning even more.
