Wife and I will be getting some sort of pupper in the next few months. We both grew up with dogs (me: labs, her: terriers).

“The Art Of Raising a Puppy” and “Be Your Dog’s Best Friend” are both very good. If they’re sold out, get ‘em on eBay.

Books are fine...the New Skete monks have good basic stuff. But, best thing to do is to take the dog to a class. Why? Because at class you are really the student, learning how to train your dog. The mantra: 1. Insistence. 2. Persistence. 3. Consistence.

Dropped Sadie off this morning for surgery. Just got a call from the surgeon after CT scan. Tumor has invaded her trachea and spine. There is another growth in her lungs. Surgery cancelled. Fuck. What a great dog.Click image for larger version.

So sorry. Spoil her while you can. Some of my favorite memories of our old labs were from their last few months with us. It’s almost like they knew they had limited time, and it was even more special.

I've given up on the food thing. Fruit, energy bars & meat are a regular thing for my boy now. After losing the last one too young to cancer I say fukkit, gonna let the pupper enjoy some tasty food.

We call the last day in a doggy’s life Bacon Day. As much as she wants. My last dog ate her last piece while the vet injected her; died with bacon in her mouth. I should be so lucky.

Indulge the pooches, they deserve it.

I feel bad for Shitface. Got him a sister so he'd have a pal but she pretty much ruined his life

Here she is about to pounce on him like a mountain lion

They do love to snuggle together at night and he probably couldn't live without her now. Poor guy doesn't like to play like she does and gets pissed at her always trying to fuck with him

Haha. Been there Booner. Golden #2 would not leave Golden #1 alone. Constantly tugging on her ears trying to get her to play and wrestle. It never stopped.

That's like our kitten always wanting to play with/bother our dog. They are similar in size. He's good for a few minutes of shenanigans and then he wants a nap.

Nice. All my pups and cats have been rescues. Not always the easiest starting out, but we sure end up loving each other a lot. Gunther and Maya are crashed out now, sleeping while I goof off here. Life is good with animals around.
