Its a lattice on the outside and a solid ball on the inside. Stays on top of snow pretty good

Got a new foster. Named him Nick as in "the nick of time" .... the dude was minutes from the big nap. 5 month old 10 lbs pitty mix He should be 30 lbs but he had been malnourished as a pup and stunted his growth.

And then there is Lola! She likes social isolation in the swell

So I've had a couple cocktails and was deep in my own head when our other foster finally decided to come out of her cage and join the pack for the first time since sunday morning. I was a bit teary eyed with the heaviness of what she had been through and struggling to be stoked and posted Ruby in that other dog thread. The one nobody should ever post in. But I had another drank plus some encouragement and now I'm stoked that she is keeping the boiled chiken down and that she trusts us enough to let me lay on the floor with her. The tail has come out from between her legs and wagged a little. Babysteps. So stoked it is!

Funbox -- Seeing this made me stoked, so good on you. Your karma pile is about a mile high with those pups. That girl looks like she's got a whole lot of good treats coming her way. +++ Good work dude.

How long do you keep a dog like this (Ruby), assuming this is a regular thing for you?

The best part of fostering is watching them transform and turn back into happy dogs, and get the life they deserve. Its amazing how resilient every single foster is, despite what they went through prior to being rescued.

We had a 30 lb rescue named camo and he got to be 60 on the chicken diet. Such a loving dog. Wife got allergic and so camo got re homed to a wine farm with a retired cop. We saw pics and he was happy but it was tough. Got a new rescue and he has been a character over the last 8-9 years. Rescue dogs are the best and they help us be better too.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Day 6 in his adopted home. Casper seems to be getting adjusted. Taught him to lay down yesterday in 5 minutes, he seemed calm all day, but today he woke up like a compressed spring. Put him on a long leash after work and went to the park and he came back to me every time I called him. Still working on the house training. Went all day yesterday without a mistake but he started to squat a time or three before being corrected and hauled outside. Put his bigger crate away for now and he is back in a small crate to avoid crate mistakes. Pulls really hard on the leash but seems to be learning to side up and that if he pulls there is no go. Impressed with his intelligence. Just have to deal with the wild dog energy and complete lack of training as far as we can tell. I think he'll be a good dog eventually. Not much experience with training older dogs with built in bad habits but assuming what I know will translate. He likes treats and he likes to make us happy - our old mini aussie really isn't concerned with our happiness so that part is a pleasant perk.

Hes obviously smart and picking it up quick. We forgot what it was like to have a puppy after three adult rescues in a row, (house training, heeling etc.), it took a while, and now shes doing great. The last couple times she started to squat in the house it drove us crazy because we thought we were done.
