Anyone have or have experience with a Chinook?
Our family is looking for a new dog after losing our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever in December. Seems like a cool breed with the one major characteristic being that their "great with kids" and I have an 8y.o. and 5y.o. so this will very much be the dog the two boys grow up with. I have found 1, yes, 1 chinook in the entire state of Utah so looking for info before committing.
It is the state dog of NH, and I grew up there, so there's that connection, too.
Thanks.
Here's a pic of the late Fenway, too.

liv2ski, thanks. That is what I've gotten for the 2 other owners I've talked with. Obviously every breed has "good" dogs and "bad" dogs, and you can't predict the one you'll get. But if the standard is sweet and kind, have to guess the majority will be that.
I know I could go with a lab or a golden, or even a toller again, but I find some pleasure in the learning about new breeds.

Pick up our new Border Collie on Saturday. Brisger our beloved hike master aussie went to the rainbow Bridge a few weeks ago and recovering from the grief is unpossible until we get the new dog (I know this from experience). Both of his parents are hospital dogs, both herd for fun, both have done some agility. Super nice, low bark factor. He should be 35 to 40 lbs. Parents fully tested but because he is a red merle the breeder wants to run him to St Louis for final eye and ear check Friday...or we'd already have him...he was eight weeks yesterday...the prolonged deep freeze and crazy storm cycle canceled the previous appt. Sire lives in Iowa City and the owner of that dog is stoked we are getting this dog and already looking forward to getting them together.
This is mom in the back and half sister closer in. Mom came inside but half sister went back outside to keep an eye on the goats. Lol at the crazy. Dad is a deep dark red with minimal white.

Meet Sam.
He came home with us.
Super chilled, makes confident eye contact, a little sick on the 4 hour drive home but otherwise he snuggled with Mrs Brit.
He's been playing happily and flopping into puppy comatose since we got him home. No accidents.
Basically he's a good boy!
