It sucks but you've gotta play the long game with treats and just getting him used to you holding the clippers while touching him. Then after he's calm about that work your way up to touching the nails. Once he can handle that reasonably well clip one nail, give him a bunch of treats and call it quits for the night. Try for another nail the next day.
It's a royal pain in the ass but I went from a rottweiler that had to be wrestled down and held to one that still hates being trimmed but tolerates it.
Good luck.

Doggie stoke
The Wahl plug In grinder is pretty great. Pup still hates it but it is a much more uncomfortable hate rather than a fight or flight hate like clippers. Nails come out super dull too

Krp - I would suggest chilling with him and touching his paws just in general...for days/weeks until he gets used to it. Then work the trimmers in when the time seems right. And yeah, treats, treats, and more treats.

Yep. Light colored english retard. I'll post more pics when tgr pays their bills or I can magically figure out the pic uploader again. Had 2 retriever pups at 8 and 10 wks playing in the brewery tonight. It was cuteness overload. Husky however is none too impressed with the new addition.

My wife had a golden that made it to 13 before we got the new little guy. My husky is 9 and knew that golden almost his whole life. They'll work it out. Goldens are one of the most loving and maybe a tiny bit needy of breeds. Can't wait to get the little guy in a driftboat soon(just need temps to get above 0)

When I was 4, May dad and I picked up a puppy and she was my best friend for 17 years. I was hoping for a similar experience for my boy, so we got him a puppy when he turned 5. The dog (named Frisbee by him), chased something up to the highway and got gruesomely squashed by a bus a day after his first birthday. We talked to the breeder, and he has a new litter due mid March. I hope to post pics of a new puppy then
