It takes forever to lessen the pain of a good dogs loss. Vibes SFB.

Nice memorial Dibs. I did this for my main man Otis and his buds. As you obviously know, they certainly deserve the extra effort:

Thought I would add a picture or two to this thread. Red-haired goldens were a staple of the family growing up, and the parent are currently on their 4th dog. While I am not ready to take on the challenge of one myself, it's been a pleasure watching their latest pup Murphy grow up into a solid mountain dog.

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Ok, looking for some wisdom here.

Baxter tolerates his paws being touched, but will not let me trim more then a single nail before he snips at me. Had a friend trim them once, I quicker him the next time and he had a long grooming session at petco for the 3rd attempt.

Now they're pretty long/sharp and he just cracked one off last weekend digging in the ice. Any recommendations before I have him drugged and clipped at the vet?

Is it possible you were trimming too much off?

Walk him on paved road or sidewalks. A few miles a day keeps our in check. We walk him to the park, let him play, walk him back twice a day. Not sure if this an option for you but it will naturally keep them filed to the appropriate length in most cases.

Muzzle him. Get a second person to hold him while you're clipping.

The first time I'd say no, the second time when I did it yes. He flinched and I got the quick.

The third time he was already getting irritated with the hour of washing and blow-dry (did not like that!) When I showed up to get him and he fought the groomer and me until I stopped it to avoid any further trauma.

We were doing 2-5 miles a day this summer, mix of pavement and gravel. It kept them OK, but the front and dewclaws weren't short enough. Now that it's winter we aren't walking as much and it's usually frozen or snow.

I just tried again as he was laying on the couch. Touching his paws and looking is fine, nail clippers come out and he pulls back lol. I'm thinking benadryl next attempt.

Fill a Kong with peanut butter, have one person hold him and put the kong in front of his face while another trims.
