I know, right. Spider is a fucking rock star. And, he's used one of his lives up, the lucky bastard.

I figured it was going to be difficult getting Spider to wear a jacket and I was 100% wrong. We had a daytime high of -10 today in Smithers and he loved his coat. Strutting around all happy.

I chose to heed PB’s advice about the trail and error nature of dog jacket selection so I just bought the only one they had from the local Total Pets.$60

Edgar in his coat. We’ve mostly used it for camping because he gets cold at night while sleeping. It has to be really cold for him to need it when active.

That's how I figure Spider's jacket is going to be used. A cold weather option rather than putting it on right away out the door.

Also, my thinking is that with regard to ski touring, I will be pretty much taking it off for the down almost all the time.. Anyone have any thoughts about jacket wearing on the down? I'm thinking of it getting snagged on tree branches, mountain detritus etc.

My husky Willow had that toy; it's the only one she didn't destroy in 16 years. We always chuckled when we'd hear "Ooohhh Nooooo!!!!" at 4am.

Our dog had it too, it lasted about two weeks. But yeah, it was hilarious.

This is probably our 8th or 9th Mr. Bill. He eats the feet and hands off then pulls out the stuffing, leaving only his clothes intact. This one already lost his hands, the feet are next. Once he gets to the larynx, we get another.

My experience with Ruffwear durability has been positive overall. I had one harness that started to fail at one of the attachment points (although everything else was fine), but they quickly warrantied that. I've used one of their jackets with another dog, and it worked pretty well for the use case (dog was a GSP in Vermont, so we ended up with a quiver of jackets). Most of the Ruffwear stuff I've seen has been well designed to minimize the chance of getting hung up. It could still happen, but said GSP would thrash through the underbrush of she thought that would lead her to a bird, and the jacket did fine.

    Doggie stoke

Finnegan doesn’t mind wearing his suit. MUCH better than a cone collar.
The suit also holds the padding against the weeping surgery cut. (He had his stomach tacked. Flipped stomachs are a major problem with a Dane.)
He was Cryptorchid (never filled his nut sack), so as long as they were diving into his belly to find his nuts, we did the preventative tack, to avoid future torsion.

Truly. Two of our male dobermans (doberpersons?) developed it. Pre-diagnosis symptoms were horrific - projectile vomiting, screaming abdominal pain. Fortunately the surgery works well. Seems more common in deep chested males.

Ruffwear harness and running leash have held up great for hikes and trail runs with Cooper. Looking at picking up a nylon coated fleece jacket for our mn winters.
