She is turning into the best dog we could have hoped for. Stays around the unfenced yard no prob. Bikes very well and mostly sticks right behind me on the downs. Still fine tuning keeping her by our side when people and dogs approach (she just wants to meet every dog and play) from above but for 9 months we aren't complaining.
    Beautiful shots and dogs.

    This dog and his nails....

The dummy won't let me trim them. Last night I finally coerced him into letting me grind the back dewclaw that was starting to circle, then me let me do the other.

Tonight he took a sharp turn going after a ball, and came back to me limping. Looks like he ripped it pretty bad, no blood thankfully. Got some antiseptic on it and sprayed no bite to keep him from licking. He's obviously in pain, as he can't lay on his soft bed without hitting it. Fairly sure the vet is going to say call for appointment Monday, not sure what more I can do until then.

Last time was a bit more gruesome, but not as far down. The vet had me stop the bleeding and go in a week later. As they were getting ready to sedate and remove it fell off.

If your dog is food motivated, you may be able to flip him to the dark side. My dog's vet called her a piranha after doing a courtesy trim. I made it a mission to chill her out... Took a couple years of regular trims, every single clip followed by a bacon or cheese bite, before it worked. Clip, treat. Clip, treat. x1000 and she eventually stopped giving a shit.

Great suggestion. I grew up trimming our dogs' nails. Never had much of a problem.

Somehow, after marriage and kids, we've transitioned to a cat household. I never had or liked cats and was frankly scared shitless by the 20 razors they carry, and what I thought were soulless devil eyes. I'm still in awe of how my wife grabs them and clips their nails. Our oldest cap hates getting them cut so we use the treat method. It has cut 95+ % of the drama out of the nail clipping.

She was a good girl on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised with her tent behavior and everything being her first backpacking trip.

Of course, we kept her pretty active.
