Dropped Sadie off this morning for surgery. Just got a call from the surgeon after CT scan. Tumor has invaded her trachea and spine. There is another growth in her lungs. Surgery cancelled. Fuck. What a great dog.Click image for larger version.

So sorry. Spoil her while you can. Some of my favorite memories of our old labs were from their last few months with us. It’s almost like they knew they had limited time, and it was even more special.

We call the last day in a doggy’s life Bacon Day. As much as she wants. My last dog ate her last piece while the vet injected her; died with bacon in her mouth. I should be so lucky.

Indulge the pooches, they deserve it.

I feel bad for Shitface. Got him a sister so he'd have a pal but she pretty much ruined his life

Here she is about to pounce on him like a mountain lion

They do love to snuggle together at night and he probably couldn't live without her now. Poor guy doesn't like to play like she does and gets pissed at her always trying to fuck with him

Haha. Been there Booner. Golden #2 would not leave Golden #1 alone. Constantly tugging on her ears trying to get her to play and wrestle. It never stopped.

That's like our kitten always wanting to play with/bother our dog. They are similar in size. He's good for a few minutes of shenanigans and then he wants a nap.

Nice. All my pups and cats have been rescues. Not always the easiest starting out, but we sure end up loving each other a lot. Gunther and Maya are crashed out now, sleeping while I goof off here. Life is good with animals around.

We had a black lab as a trial run for kids (RIP maggie mae 10-93 to 6-01). Trained that dog hard, could go offleash into petsmart etc. would run miles with me healing off leash. Take any amount of abuse from the eventual young kids, stay in Place, etc. Her one protest was sleeping on the couch at night after we'd turned in. Sometimes I could catch her and give her the face grab, but more often if I got up in the middle of the night I'd hear her collar clink clink as she got off the sopha.

Never once did she give an inch on that account.

Meh, they live their entire life to please and protect the pack and all they ask for in return is to hang out with us, they can lay on the couch whenever.

Edit: I typed ‘couch’ in google photos out of curiosity and this was the first image:

It’s probably his “let me on the couch” maneuver when I’m gone.
