Rainy days and grass stains on fur. He squeals when he yawns and now I do it, too.

Definitely not good. I lost a dog this way but from one of her toys. She died in my arms because it was too late by the time we realized what was happening. It sucked, truly. I had just gotten home from work. Hide the laundry basket and make sure no socks, underwear, etc are anywhere to be found. If pup swallows a sock this early in the game, likely to also eat toys if possible even later in life. My girl was 9 when she died and while we were vigilant over the years with our laundry, neither one of us thought she'd swallow whole one of her toys because she cherished them so much. But she did and it killed her. Just be mindful.

That’s awful, I’m sorry for that. Yeah we’ve been much more careful with everything. But still watching and worried.

Some great puppers and doggie stoke (and a very good reminder PSA) here Mags, well done!

We made the 10 hour drive to the North Coast this week to drop the great nephew of this 16 year old guy off at the same dude that trained him and all our other dogs and to see some family on the long weekend.

I’m not sure if it was the cooler weather, being around family, being around a pack of dogs that aren’t trying to constantly annoy him, or the grassy land to roam, but this dude was more active than I’ve seen him since our last trip up to the N. Ga mountains exactly a year ago to go play in creeks and chase balls.

It warmed my heart more than you could imagine to see him strolling freely and happy, even chased some fouls at the family wiffleball game. Capped off with a surprise painting my Mom had done of him, and I was very thankful.

Hug your old ones and savor the good days; not that y’all need a reminder.

    Doggie stoke

The last few days, this big honkin squirrel has been driving these guys absolutely fucking batty:

This one especially. She’s been inconsolable, whining and howling and climbing the walls, while the little shit of a gray squirrel prances around on the deck. Not doing anything. Just… taunting.

Until tonight. Just as I put the cheese on the burgers on the grill, they fucking got him more or less right behind my knees. Total chaos. They traded turns maiming him until we were able to wrangle all three inside.

I whacked him over the head a few times with a brake rotor that was by the garage door (replaced brakes on the fiancé’s car over the weekend). Put him in a few bags sealed tight. Put him in the trash. Burgers got over cooked.

That was all almost an hour ago. These dogs are still out of their minds. Poor things. They don’t know that this is the top of the mountain.

My fiancé was not amused, so I have to pretend to be all facts of life. But really I want to give them all high fives. That squirrelly fucker had it coming.
    focus.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

It’s a Vizsla. He’s a really good boy and already has me wrapped.
I think Rhodies have a lot of Vizsla in the blood line.

We have not met a turtle since last year, so it is a slow game. The score is now Turtles 2, Moira 0.

Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey
