Picked up a new pup from a rescue shelter a couple weeks ago. 14 weeks old, best we can guess is he is some sort of a Beagle mix- most likely with a Boxer. Name is Jackson. He is the man.

As far as the aggression is concerned, I have always been a big fan of Cesar Malan and do believe in "the power of the pack". Dog parks are not the proper place to have unbalanced dogs. Rather, if you even care, as really you may not and that is ok, then you need a person like I went to to reintroduce your girl to dogs. It is easier when they are young like my two were, but it is never to late, with the proper training to have your dog happy and calm around other dogs. No judgement here, just my two cents.
You know some days I do care and some days I dont. It's sort of to the point where I don't care anymore. I can take her out for walks through town with other dog/people, runs and longboarding and she is fine. I don't let her linger with other dogs for more than a sniff of the ass or two and then we keep moving. So I like that I can take her places without being on total lockdown alert. It's funny though, when people meet her they are either terrified or in her face affectionate which she handles pretty well (havent had a bit stranger yet!). Doesn't seem to be a middle ground with huskies for some reason.

As far as the aggression at home, it's really sort of a double edged sword kind of deal. On one hand, I wish she would be more calm because all our friends have dogs and they cant bring them over. On the other hand, I don't have to deal with my friends bringing their annoying dogs over cause they know who's will win. So idk, like I said I think we've found a good balance between her crazy side and her good side.

Both my huskies have been good with our cats. First one (Snoop) met a cat as a puppy that swatted her a bit and the new one (Mya) has been around two cats since 9 weeks old. It depends on age and if husky knows the cat isn't a chew toy in my experience. Mya and our bigger cat actually play together which is quite funny.

I posted this in a TR last year, and going through Doggie Stoke photos ... I just had to post here.

My friend Erin's German Shep named "Kosmic." Yeah, he's just about as stoked as touring snow as any of us are. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this photo.

GoEhuge. My boxer/beagle mix is on the left. He is such a good dog. Yours looks great!! These guys used to battle. Mostly the little mutt bullying the big one. Now they've learned they're stuck with one another & worked things out.

^^^^Why do some dogs do that? When I adopted my last Keeshond (Shadow), when I first got him, he would roll in other dogs shit. Took about 3 verbal lashings for him to stop.

They do it to hide their own scent IIRC.

So Rudiger the beatiful GSP is probably gone to another home somehow.. never heard back.

Couldn't stand life without a dog so I found Gage, another pointer rescue that's overweight, in need of a permanent home and all dude wants to do is be where you are. He gained a lot of respect by responding to his collar's sound.. no shock needed. And he loves snow (not as much as Kosmic). Very happy to have a good pup in the home again.

Here we are at Red Rock last weekend.. coincidentally an all time backfire. "Oh it aint gonna snow enough to ski the goods" yea, right

He is an absolute stud. I adopted my pup from the shelter 5 or 6 years ago. In my opinion, that's the way to do it. There are so many dogs out there with out homes. I remember when we got her, she was the most timid girl. They told her one day they got to the shelter in the AM to open, and she was chained to the fence. Then we got her fixed and brought her home. For the first week she did nothing except lay around terrified. Then I took her outside and she went crazy, I've never seen her run so fast. It was awesome and knew she had the right home. But anyways, congrats on the awesome new pup.

She's doing pretty well with our mutt gracie - starting to keep up more. We think she lost a lot of strength sitting in the shelter for a while since shes a rescue from down south and keeps getting faster every day.

    RIP. Jackson

My buddies black lab was put down this afternoon. Great dog. I used to live with him and actually passed out drunk once in Jackson's bed and pissed it, he didn't even care (the dog that is)

He had a taste for dirty female panties and actually had to have surgery twice due to it. He obviously knew the finer things in life.

Here he is at Alpental today before his final appointment getting his last taste of snow which he enjoyed so much. He was good buddy.

AK47bp - sorry to hear about Jackson. Good on you for taking him out for one last walk in the snow.

Great pics everyone! Gotta love this thread.

What kind of dogs are fitch and kirby?

Fitch almost looks a little schnauzer-ish. I'm pretty sure my dogs have made friends with the mice. I sometimes miss the schnauzer I had when I was a little kid. That bitch ate mice like she had no other food source.
