My family and I are feeling ready for another dog after the passing of our last one just over a yr ago. Researching dogs— of the AKC breed matcher quiz we like Miniature American Shepard. Does anyone have comments about temperament, barking, likability?
We hike n ski and would like the dog to be down with activities without requiring abundant activity.
Open to other suggestions 🤙🏼

edgar is super cute. love the long leg stretch
what kind? looks like some rough coat terrier in the mix?
skid luxury
He's an Idaho Shag, which is a cross between an Airedale Terrier and a Border Collie. He was a rescue and we didn't know that at the time, only knew mom was a border collie. All of the traits that Idaho ranchers were looking for when they made the breed make him both a great family dog, and super challenging.
Here he is in full herding mode with his sister (Yoshi, a border collie):

We just picked up foster #28 this afternoon (with Safe Harbor Lab Rescue).... meet 8-yr old Pebbles. He's a friendly black lab that was surrendered at a local shelter in Denver, when his owners moved and decided to leave him behind. He's about 20 lbs overweight, but he'll drop that quickly from chasing our two young lab ladies around. He's super handsome and seems to very easy going, he'll make a great best friend for someone out there!
Putting aside the amazingly rare genetically obese dog, I consider people who let their dogs get morbidly obese to be POS.
I agree. There are a lot of shitty dog owners out there, unfortunately.
Morbidly obese: a condition where being overweight results in secondary health issues e.g. diabetes, arthritis, edema, immobility, etc.
And it looks like smmokan's Pebbles is not morbidly obese, but possibly headed in that direction without proper nutrition and exercise.
For identification purposes. Yes, I know it's a cat but it works here.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Has there been a clear link between the lack of grain and the DCM?
I fed my guy Blue Buffalo grain free puppy, now he is on Blue Wilderness Red meat. When this story first came out BB wasn't listed, now it is. Has me pretty worried as he has been eating it for over a year now.
Not sure what I should be feeding him as the info seems unclear
Definitely not clear, but I chose to err on the safe side: switched ours poochies to Royal Canin breed specific diets. It's entirely possible that it turns our to be something out of left field. e.g. Chinese melamine , but I couldn't just wait and see. Grain free always seemed little hinky any ways, unless a grain specific allergy/reaction was involved.
Funny this comes up as I just had my two at the vet today and she asked what they ate. I said, I don’t know, something grain free. She winced and said they don’t recommend grain free because of heart disease. I looked up the auto order on Amazon and we realized their food had rice. In the clear I guess.

Well, shit. So much for a limited ingredient diet (per vets recommendation)?
