My wife does a large group, dog walk in the foothills with friends most mornings. She takes both dogs but refuses to put the shock collar on the one year old bird dog (the one in front in my previous post), too much trouble. I get a panicked phone call this morning that he chased something, ran off, and they can see his light and hear him crying way up the mountain and wont come back. I go up to help look for him, in the dark rain, and find him cliffed out on a small ledge, can't go up or down. I had to shoulder carry him (he weighs 70 pounds) down a fourth class chimney against his will. Dogs....

Oh, to note, my dog does not have a shock collar, it's a garmin GPS collar.

98% of the time he's fine, but he's disappeared for hours at a time more than once.

He's older now and it hasn't been an issue since we got the collar...

Maisy had a solid 20 min wrestle/flirt in the snow with Manny, a 2yro 180lb Newfy a bit more than 5X her weight. Dogs blending together until the big guy was exhausted.

Charly is too old to run through deep snow anymore, but she loves being out in it still

Here's the newest member of our family, Fletcher. We got him just before Xmas from a human society in Grand Junction and he is just about 6mo now. He's definitely part cattle dog and we think Golden, he looked a lot like a golden when we first got him but looks more like a cattle dog every day. He is exceedingly sweet and loves anyone who will scratch his tummy and give him treats, and he will play with any dog, no matter how big, and can give it as good as he gets it. He definitely has the energy and intelligence of a cattle dog (he naps less than any puppy I've owned and could probably go all day without one sometimes it seems), but he still has the ADD of a Golden so he can get bored and obnoxious pretty quickly, but he hasn't destroyed anything expensive yet. Excited for a summer with him and lots of hikes and mtn bike rides.

Here is Baxter claiming his yard after shoveling the roof last weekend. He loves the big snowbanks so he can see/ bark at the other dogs walking by

I often hate on dog owners who are too lazy to pick up their dog shit at the dog park. Here is my puppy shitting on a 40 degree frozen slope (measured with my phones inclinometer app because I'm a dork) at the local off-leash park, where i would need an ice ax and crampons to go pick up his shit due to the hard re-freeze of slush overnight. He shits on this hill almost every day.

    Doggie stoke

As demonstrated by previous posted photos, my dog is not big so I’m starting to feel like quite the schmuck as I always pick up his cat sized turds in our Tahoe neighborhood because, more often than not, there are several giant ones left abandoned nearby.

Ahahahahaha yep, classic. Or the toothpaste poop where picking it up just makes an even bigger mess, that's the other play.
