Went to the lake. Fetched sticks for an hour straight.

What we have here is an intelligence failure. You may be familiar with staring directly at that when shaving. .

Our friends pug/frenchy got a lesson about creeks and strainers, luckily we got to her real quick.

I have some doggie-unstoke, but I have to unload on someone. Sorry for the wordy post. My younger dog is super reactive to getting his nails trimmed, like runs and hides if he sees the clipper come out, won’t let you touch his feet etc. His nails got long enough that I made an appointment with the vet to have them do it, figuring they’d have the expertise and the technique to make things smoother.
They made it through one foot and said he’s just too reactive and we don’t want to make it worse. So they gave me a prescription for some pain meds and a sedative to give to him 2 hours before his next appointment. Or I can give to him and try at home.
Well yesterday I took him for a long hike, and then played frisbee for hours. When he was nice and tired I snuck up to him and clipped one nail. He was surprised, but didn't really react. I gave lots of praise and treats after. About two hours later, I trimmed another one with little reaction again. Huge win.
This morning while he was still sleepy I decided to go for one more, at this pace they’ll be all trimmed in a couple more days. I pick a back foot and trim off the same amount that the vet did as a guide and he instantly yelps and runs away. A few minutes later I see the pools of blood on the floor and I realize that I trimmed a nail that the vet had already trimmed a few days ago. Now he’s limping and avoiding me even after multiple attempts to give him treats.
I feel fucking terrible and probably ruined any future efforts to trim his nails. Fuck.

Damn, ZZZ, that's rough.
I was reading a little about St Bernards. I always figured the stuff about rescuing people was myth but apparently they were used by St. Bernard who built a midieval hospital on what is now Great St. Bernard Pass to aid pilgrims. The dogs worked in pairs, without handlers. They would patrol the pass and if a pilgrim was found in distress in the snow, one dog would go for help while the other would lie down with the victim to keep them warm.
On the other hand, Timmy falling down a well is a myth. Apparently it was Lassie that fell down a well once.
The not impressed with my diet face.
