Yeah, it has a red light setting. I'll try that, and/or maybe set the lamp on the back of his neck and point it up or behind him so there's some indirect illumination that won't blow out his night vision.

I do a red light on the back of the neck. They run like maniacs through all types of terrain so I assume they see ok.

We also have some glowstick type lights that clip around their neck for campground antics, but they would probably get lost pretty quick in the woods.

We use the rave glow stick wrap around the neck for Maisie. She gives 'er and it doesn't seem to fall off.

Garmin collar has a pretty bright LED that you can turn on and off remotely. We use it all the time. Definitely overkill if you don't need or want to use a collar but nice if you do or just have it from previous dogs like we do.
