Well, they say patience is a virtue.

    Here are Milo and Cleo

And this is the story of them killing a chicken.

There's a park close by that the city started to build, but never finished. It's about 40 acres, and most of it is pretty rough, so it became the de facto off-leash dog park of the neighborhood. There are houses along one side, and every third house in this town has backyard chickens.

On this particular day, about ten of them had escaped their yard, and were free-ranging on the edge of the park. A bright white one caught Cleo's eye, and both dogs started running at full-steam. Milo is only in it for the chase, but Cleo is a little hunter and is lasering in. I managed to grab her, but not before she got it.

She looked pretty cute with the sheepish 'you caught me' face and a mouth full of feathers fanned out like playing cards, but taking a picture of her right in front of the woman who owned them would've been bad form. She was upset, but amazingly apologized for not keeping them in her yard (while actually petting Milo).

I went back later with an apology gift of wine and beer, and offered to replace the chicken, but the guy said something along the lines of "shit happens".

I swear that dog was grinning all the way home.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

The two doggies I love most in the world. Gunther the Good and Maya Mayhem. Still looking good for over 11 years old, but a little stiff these days.

Walking past the dog park today I saw some millennial on his phone. His two beautiful lean hunting type dogs with the pointy noses were both staring at him and the ball at his feet. They were impatiently patiently waiting. They are probably used to his shit by now, but they clearly were not amused. He finally picked up the ball and they were off to the races. Out of the corner of my eye I saw his face go back in his phone. Kids these days.

Sometimes I leave the Blink camera armed so I can see what the dogs are up to while I'm at work. This was a few weeks ago on the first snow:

My guy Spider has a sub par coat. He is mostly good but it was an easy -25 out today and the poor guy was miserable at times. I’ve talked about this before on this thread and stated that I felt it would be next to impossible to get him to wear one but that argument went out the window today. Either he wears one or I can’t bring him out below a certain temp and I know that will be a fate worse than being cold for Spider.

So if anyone cares to educate me on doggie jackets that would be greatly appreciated. Materials, sizing, brands etc. Thx

Too many options, not enough background info. Be prepared to trial and error it through at least 3 different coats ...... and you probably end up keeping them all because .... different conditions i.e. dog coat quiver.

Most doggy coats (Ruffwear, etc.) seem to have open bellies, which makes it cleaner for pup to pee, but exposes their thin-haired undercarriage. Find a seamstress and have them make a body-sock out of fleece, to cover the tummy, then put a Ruffwear-type jacket over it.

Ruffwear is a good place to start, but they aren't cheap. EDIT ^^^ that's a pretty good solution

My dog is a pretty rough and tumble dude See below.

    https://www.tetongravity.com/story/ski/he-did-it

So I have been looking at jackets made by manufacturers of Sled Dog gear. Those doggos are nuts so I figured jackets made for them would have a pretty high durability factor.

    https://www.mtnridge.com/Dog-Coats_p_52.html

Spider is a Husky, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Mastiff, German Sheppard mix. He weighs 65 pounds. I was thinking the open belly thing would be practical as I see myself putting it on and taking it off him as we move forward depending on temps, wind, his body language etc. Kinda like we do with puffies depending wear we are on our tour.

I foresee my dog being pretty hard on a jacket. Durability is a big consideration. I am assuming Ruffwear makes a durable product?
