^haha! I’d much prefer the shaded and cool brick patio under the deck but then again, I’m not a dog.

Our deck gets too hot during the day. Evenings are nice though.

Damn this little critter is destructive, cute as hell but jeez She won't stay in the crate, freaks out screaming and crying and twisting and trying to eat her way out of it to the point where she's gonna break her teeth. Outside potty training is proving to be a challenge too but I don't expect much at 3+ months.

Just a baby and her doggo. At just under 2 yrs old, Daisy has been nothing but patient when our daughter grabs a fistful of fur, her tail, or jams her thumb in Daisy’s eye when trying to pet her head. (Closely supervised, of course). Gonna be a blast watching them grow up together!
We had an Aussie Shepherd when our (twin) girls were born, Puff was a bit under 3 when we brought them home and she had nearly as much to do with raising them as we did. She napped with them, told us when it was time to change their diapers and they loved to wrap their hands in her long fur. One day they pulled themselves up giggling like crazy kids and she started to walk so they walked with her. The look of wonder on their faces as she wiggled out of it and they were standing was priceless as they kept going on their own until the table got in the way.

Since dad likes to rally muddy backroads while Walter hangs out the window, momma decided he needs the doggles. First dog I've ever had that doesn't mind them.Click image for larger version.

Have you tried giving her a Kong with stuff frozen in the kennel? It’s been so long since I’ve had to deal with the puppy stage, but there are ways to help her get used to the kennel and like it. Put treats in there for her to fund, but leave it open. Also, a good rule for housebreaking is a puppy can hold it for about the same age in months they are - so if she’s three months old, try to take her out every 3 hours, as soon as she wakes, or if she’s been playing a lot, right before bed. I chose a word for peeing, “tinkle”, so as soon as I would take her out I encourage her to go tinkle and the when she does, lots of praise. It wasn’t too long until they got it. They pretty much pee on command now. Zoe is 11 and has slowed down a lot.

I watched in horror the other day as my puppy danced with a coiled, ready to strike rattlesnake. He finally came when I called him but it was in slow motion for sure. Lots of snakes on the trails this year.

He will lay in the sun till he is burning hot, then come inside to lay on the tile floor panting for a half hour. The first summer I got him I'd come outside looking for him and worry he was dead. Idiot.

The four types of dog vomit and their definitions:

Yellow urka-gurkas: Dog runs around the house and hides under furniture while making a prolonged "uurka-guurka, uurka-guurka" noise (the only noise guaranteed to wake you from even the deepest sleep). After a mad scramble to capture the dog and drag him outside, the episode ends with an indelible line of slimy yellow froth from the living room rug to the back door.

Blap disease: Dog exercises hard and a) eats large mouthfuls of snow (winter blap disease) or drinks a bucket of water (summer blap disease). Within two minutes of returning inside, the dog spews out large amounts of clear, slimy liquid, making a distinctive "blap" sound and sharp percussive noise as it hits the linoleum.

Garks: Dog suddenly clears his throat with loud and dramatic "gggark, gggark" noises, followed by a prolonges "iiksss" and then loud, satisfied smacking noises. There is nothing on the rug. Don't investigate, you don't want to know.

Ralfs: The dog strolls into the dining room and waits 'til the innocent dinner guests are all watching him. Then, with a single deep gut-wrenching "raaaallff", disgorges the entire week's contents of his stomach on the rug.

    Variation: he eats it.
I’m laughing with tears, this is so spot on.

Cats are sooooo much smarter: never trust a cucumber, it might be a snake.
