I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I always wanted long distance/camping trip on a bike, but have to think about my safety first.

Had a nice ride around some National Forest in the Gros Ventre last weekend. First deep river crossing, knee to thigh deep over large rocks, I walked it so I would not get water in the intake if I dumped it. Saw a lot of wild life and got into to some rarely visited corners. ^^^^^ Nice bike B. I used to ride my old KLR back in there a lot. Always wanted to make the trails connect over to the Union pass/ Cora road. Great riding all over the GV's. Gunsight Pass? And yeah, that river crossing has potential for bad moments. It's debatable in a K5 Blazer in high water! BT/DT...

Just put some scratch down on a 990 Super Duke. Gotta wait for weather to improve before flying out for her (North Carolina) and will take my sweet fucking time riding back.

I went looking at a house and came away with this! Its a 1969 Yamaha DT1 i believe. Should be a fun rebuild project and will most likely end up at my place in Montana for just bombing around and some light trails.

I know jack shit about bikes but that thing looks perfect for montana backroads. You should repaint that same green. Have fun with the rebuild. If you're ever bombing around the tobacco roots I'll buy ya a beer in pony.

There's also a revival in taking old bikes like that, if you can't find original parts, and making them a bit more modern but still retro funky with some Mad Max thrown in.

^ just some examples. Keeping sketchy and clapped out looking, but running like a top, would be really sweet too.

Seller is a bit of a ski legend which makes the idea a little more fun.

Haven't planned it yet, but it will involve North Carolina, West Virginia, SE Kentucky, and maybe a little of Tennessee.

And, damn! I'm getting a serious hard on for that Yamaha and Triumph!

Yes, a Thruxron, I am not sure of the year.
He grew up at Jackson Hole, a local legend over several eras. I don’t want to dump his name here publicly. But PM me for some more details, if you are interested in the bike.

Picked her up in Durham this AM. Took an hour to finish up payment and paperwork. Made it to Huntington, WV before crapping out and getting a room. Man, I'm fucking tired!Click image for larger version.

Wind didn't bother me, but I only went over 90 a few times. Need to adjust the forks to match the shock but otherwise she's a great ride,

The Thruxton owner and I are occasional riding partners. His bike has been for sale for a few years. He doesn't ride too much and the family takes up all the free time now. Bike's fairly minty. Aftermarket cowl, AF patch on rear fender. One small oil leak.
That dual exhaust is rich too.

We had pulled over in the park in Dubois to have a a bite and wet a line over on the Wind, about 100yds. away.
