250 2t would be an excellent choice as well. A bit more nimble, but not quite as much low end grunt. I doubt a 200 2t would do well enough at altitude, but is an incredibly fun bike on singletrack since it rides more like a mountain bike.

350 4t with wide ratio transmission (ktm 350 xcw) would be another solid choice. Does not turn as quickly as the 300 2t. If you're definition is wide open singletrack with not super tight turns then 350 4t is excellent.

I prefer the 300 2t in the northeast because it has wicked power for big moves and lugging up steep track while being nimble and fun/fast on tight twisty track. The 350xcw would be better if you are riding a mix of singletrack and desert whoops. The 2t bikes are simply not as planted as 4t when going in a straight line. In other words, the 2t wants to turn and the 4t wants to go straight. Another way of thinking about it is the 2t is like a nimble dh bike while the 4t is like a plow dh bike.

I agree with Evan... lectron or tpi if you are going to be changing altitude significantly on rides.

Or just get an ebike... I haven't been on my Enduro or mototrials bike in weeks lol. Speaking of which I need to get on my trials bike... clinic coming up soon. All r really fun though.

2t 250 here in the colorado high country. Would definitely recommend, especially come desert season. Less low end grunt than a 300, but quicker to rev out and nimble AF as you describe. Just got to clutch a bit more. At 12K i bet this thing performs more like a 200.

RE: jetting. Depends on your uses and experiences, but i Can ride from 4k-12.5k in CO/UT with just an air screw adjustment.

Just did the longest day I’ve ever done on a bike.

851 miles over 15 hours. Minneapolis to Denver. Five hours of over 100 degree heat through Nebraska.

This is the only photo I got. The gut punch of the trail mix melting in my bag

I shot some video from the bike so I’ll be interested to see how that turns out

    I miss the BH/SRR ST!

Did KTM keep any of the original GG tech? I had a 2011 300EC that I loved besides the hodge podge of fasteners. The motor was great and i believe was basically unchanged from early 2000's until at least when Tarrot bought them.

It's actually so damned hot here I find myself regretting the decision to take the bike before sunset.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Dunno how well you can see it but the dot way down on the road is my 11yo just after descending tincup pass off the divide. He's driven up there in the rzr and the snowmobiles but this was his first time doing it on the bike. Beast...Name: 20220809_165540-02.jpeg

Nice cruiser!! We got into some remote terrain in WY on Sunday and witnessed the carnage from Saturday torrential storms. The flood pic shows a wash prolly 20’ down with a 48” pipe going under the road. The water came up OVER THE ROAD!!!

Hail storms are fun! Lightning on both sides of me, holy shit! Then it cleared up ATL. Fun solo day on the bike, pretty sure if anyone else was with me we would have turned around. haha
