Just picked this up to replace my F700GS. The Beemer just didn't have enough power, and the torque curve was kinda wonky. Looking forward to rippin' the shit out of these mountain roads!Click image for larger version.

    Question for the collective:
I have a 4-5k budget for an adv bike. Looking to get Something to compliment my ktm400exc enduro. It needs to be fun on Vt dirt roads but mostly used on pavement (70/30) and commuting.
I like the budget and dependability of the Suzuki v-Strom 650, as it checks every mark on the box, but it's not a very sexy choice.
I drool over the Honda Africa twin, But it appears to be out of my price range.

    Any good recs?

The new Triumph (new from Vegas) and my Super Duke (in storage near Cincinnati) were both delivered yesterday. First family portrait with recently acquired KTM 690 Enduro R.

Does this 2014 v-strom with 8,888mi for 4.5k sound like a good deal? Click image for larger version.

^^^^ After a quick look on cycletrader, that's a pretty sweet deal. Not much in the country to compete. Especially with sick low miles, mods already done and expensive bags to boot. And the Sargent seat is awesome.

Fuck, you're off to the races mang.

Very big heavy bike for adv riding but can be done, ( great deal on it for sure ). look around for an older 990 or 950. Sold my 08 990 a year or so ago for 7G with only 9000 miles on it with racks boxes skid plate blah blah.... point is look around, the Honda is a great bike but so new on the market it’s up there in price.....I’ll look around down here and make a few call if u like MPPG

For you KTM guys...... I sat on the new KTM 790 R yesterday at the national dual sport in Lockhaven Pa, belongs to Mike Lafferty. He seems to be very impressed with it so far riding it like a dirt bike off road......In short nimble bike like dirt bike in tight shit but good horsepower for road....it was good to have spoken to mike about the bike and hear his views!!! sold out here in the USA from what am hearing but will be adding it next year for sure to the stable of iron horses
    07 450 exc and 13 990 Baja......

I offered him $200 more, since his ad said "best offer" and he agreed to take it. Now I just have to inspect it and make sure the value is there

When people make fun of my V-Strom...

I fucking love this bike, and hopefully a fun, dependable adv bike will keep my KTM fresh

If the inspection is bad or if someone offers $200 more than you just did, this one just came up on a Craigslist near me and just a bit south of you - seems well worth checking out, a 2011 ABS with 2400 miles and a few added bells and whistles for $3300.: https://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/m...904339763.html

^^^^^WOW, amazingly low miles on that one. Geez, this is getting good. Can't wait to see how this turns out now. I'd check out both, then you could afford yourself a little wiggle room knowing you may have another better option.

Fuuugg I'm jonesing to ride. Certain my knee wouldn't support too much tipping/leaning though. Gotta get strong.

Shout out - thanks to Bruce Springskiing who was good enough to take my bike out to shake off the dust from a 7 month layoff. Thank you my friend. Hope for a lap w/you before the snow flies.

    Maggot motorcycle stoke thread

I really like that Triumph of Meadow Skipper's. So cool how they blended a totally modern bike with the classic styling of the past.

That retro/modern vibe has a lot to do with why I got a Bonneville. I’m really liking that bike.
