It's your opportunity to get that dream bike!!

Nothing new going on here, so I dug up some old race clip.
This was back in 2007 CMRA 5 hour mini endurance race on NSR50.
In the middle of the Summer in Texas, so the temp was 107F and ground temp was over 135F.
We had 3 racers to take turns and each rode until the bike needs fuel.
I was the smallest and lightest, so my tank lasted 40 mins and I was about to drop dead from heat stroke.

    Good times.

They say the KLR 650 is nearly indestructible, guess I proved that wrong.
Damn. That sucks! I think the new KLR is looking pretty sweet (and by that I mean exactly the same), or maybe time for an Africa Twin or Bimmer?

Thought I'd just fix up the KLR, it doesn't need that much work

Too early to know yet, but the KLR sure is a work horse, and I do like it. "Africa Twin" is the first thing out of everybody's mouth though. BMWs are nice, but parts and service are a pain. Friend through the drive sprocket nut on his, and it is a BMW exclusive part...it's a fucking bolt, took days to get one. I had to wire his drive sprocket on to get him home.

Word is Yamaha has a smaller Tenerie coming out???

Who knows, I just need to get through the next fee weeks or months before I can really think about it, unless I get to jonesing about a ride. I don't know how you people who have a real winter get by

    ~vibes~

It all depends on what you want in a bike. The AT does get lots of nods, mainly because it blends the go-far mythos of the BMW GSA with the lighter weight of a big dirt bike. I'll admit to lusting after one prior to launch. The reviews have it very much a Honda; lacking soul or character, underpowered if not adequate and generally reliable. If you were serious about lots of dirt-road and going big with adventure riding, it's still a good choice, even if you give up a bit on the road because of it.

Regarding the Beemers; anything below the 1150, 1200 or the newer water-cooled 1200s seem to be utterly disappointing and heavy. And yes, parts cost and such can be a pain, but I have a garage full of Ducatis and Aprilias, so what do I know.

Yamaha finally announced that they are releasing the Tenere 7 next year. Probably. No word on when or if that comes to the States.

Really, it comes down to what kind of riding you're after. From there, work backwards to the type of bike.

I made it to S Nevada for some desert riding over the holiday, but not before getting turned around on I-70 by some rare CO snow.

Xmas eve morning in Denver after getting turned around at Empire the night before.

It's been a wet, rainy mess out west. So I did what any self respecting skiing motorcyclist would do. I added a dirty bike to the stable.

A CRF 205X with an Athena big bore kit, air box mod and a rejetted carb. She does alright, despite the shitty rider.

I can tell you aren't in California...there are only a handful of places you can ride a bike like that here. Seems crazy, but you need to be played to ride just about anywhere except a few designated ORC areas. Even with thousands of square miles of desert, you need plates in case you might get near a road or some such bullshit.

Have fun and don't hurt yourself too badly.

On another note, insurance is about to pay out for my KLR, significantly more then it's worth, so an Africa Twin is looking like a serious option. There are not paying well enough some some serious Euro trash, but at least I will have something to ride. Of course I don't have any gear, but at least that's cheap

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I'm jealous of anybody able to get out right now. My GS is tucked away in the back of the garage and +/- 4 feet of snow in the past week isn't helping things.

Granted, this is a wonderful problem to have, but I miss my bike.

That AT looks amazing - I am very tempted but might have to get a crf250 for more off-road oriented adventures as well - need a quiver I guess.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the AT when you get some miles on it Hutash
