Best movies out right now...
Which ones have you seen? What are your favorites? Worst?
I saw House of Sand and Fog a week or so ago. By far the best movie I have seen all year. Very, very sad, but if a movie makes you feel like this one did, it has accomplished a lot. A classic tragic story with all the elements of a Shakesphere play. A must see for the non-depressed.
Next up on the list are 21 grams and Big Fish. Anyone seen these yet?

I just saw "Catch Me if you Can." It was ok.

I saw "master and commander" it was very good.
Rotten Tomatoes <-- a really good movie review site. They take all the movie reviews reviews, and determine if the reviewer gave the movie a thumbs up or thumbs down. They then average all these together to get a % rating for the movie. Its really good.

I saw Big Fish last night. I'd say it was good, but not spectacular. Beautifully done, though. And a good story overall. I'd say it's worth a rent, but maybe not to see in the theater(This comes from a broke-ass college student, so take it with a grain of salt.)
I LOVED Last Samurai and really like ROTK, too. You've prolly seen those already though.

Saw Big fish with my wife and thought the story was brilliant. Tim Burton is a very creative director and displays it in this movie. There were a few lame parts, but overall it was good to see a movie that doesn't fit the "mold" of most new movies. Definitely worth checking out in the theatre.

Ditto. Most charming film I've seen in a long while. And I'm not prone to using the word 'charming' very often.
if it was Charming to Splat I am taking my lady asap.

The battle scene at the beginning of the movie shows a battle plan screwed up by a racist Union commander. Apparently the commander who was to lead the attack around the crater created by the underground explosion had been preparing his black troops to lead the attack but his superior wanted white soldiers to lead the attack and instructed the guy to lead the attack with white soldiers. The white soldiers were not prepared and went right into the hole and got massacred. The real question is do you feel enlightened by this little tidbit of history? or was it a waste of my time?

Saw 'Touching The Void' the other night. The bit where he's stuck in the crevasse is pretty scary. Recommended.
Not getting stuck in a crevasse.
